Warning: Contains spoilers for Spy X Family chapter #118.One of the best romances in modern anime is easily Loid and Yor’s relationship inSpy X Family. While the story has never gone further than teasing a romance between them, Loid and Yor’s bond has an undeniable intimacy to it, and the idea of them becoming a legitimate couple is more of a matter of when, not if.
Spy X Familyfans have been waiting years for Loid and Yor to become a true couple, and they might finally be getting their wish. The current arc is another one that focuses onLoid and Yor’s relationship, specifically Yor’s feelings, and with how the latest chapter ended, combined with a very notable fact about the next chapter’s release date,Spy X Familymight finally be teasing a long-awaited development in Loid and Yor’s relationship. All of that is a long time coming for many reasons, and hopefully, the story will deliver on it in the best of ways.
Why Spy X Family Fans Are Getting Excited About A Major Relationship Upgrade
What To Expect From Spy X Family’s Next Chapter
InSpy X Family’s latest arc, another Garden assassin named Hemlock accused Yor of becoming weak after starting a family and kissing her husband whenever she comes home, and while that wasn’t true, it did make Yor question the depth of her relationship with Loid again. Later, McMahon told Yor about how he hoped that his wife would understand his work, prompting Yor to wonder if she wanted a relationship like that with Loid, and in the end,Yor realized that she couldn’t leave things as they were anymore.
Naturally, it’s unclear what Yor is talking about beyond clarifying that she’s not telling Loid about being an assassin. However, with the joke of Hemlock thinking that Yor kisses Loid whenever she comes home, combined with McMahon showing how important it is to have someone you can express genuine affection to,Spy X Familychapter #118 has perfectly laid the groundwork for Loid and Yor’s relationship to start becoming romantic. The fact that the next chapter releases on International Kissing Day also gives credence to the idea, as the timing feels too great to be a coincidence.
Why Spy X Family’s New Yor Development Is Long Overdue
Spy X Family Can’t Move Forward Without Making Yor Grow
As great a character as Yor is, she’s always been the member ofthe Forger familywith the least to do on account of only Loid and Anya having plot-relevant stories, and it’s been a common point of criticism for manga and anime fans alike. This isn’t the first time the story has examined her relationship with Loid, of course, butSpy X Familytaking a far more serious look at Loid and Yor’s relationship can finally give Yor better character development, and that’s something the story could only benefit from.
What’s also noteworthy about this is how it fixes another notable issue with Yor’s development. The few times Yor has gotten some character development, it’s been focused largely on her role and worth as a mother to Anya and caretaker for the Forgers, as a whole, but there’s rarely been anything for her relationship with Loid and for Yor as an individual. As such, what makes these recent chapters great is thatSpy X Familymight finally be moving Yor out of the dynamic she’s seemingly been trapped in for years, and that would be great to see after all this time.
After so much time was spent on the story being largely stagnant, things are finally moving forward inSpy X Family, and for the character who needed it the most, so in the end,Spy X Family’s teasing of a relationship change for Loid and Yor is the perfect way to breathe new life into the series. It’s still unknown if any of that will happen or if the series will undercut it all with a joke, but hopefully,Spy X Familywill have things progress in the best way possible.
