While not every trophy and/or achievement inClair Obscur: Expedition 33is particularly difficult to unlock, there’s a small selection that most players don’t ever get because they are either too challenging or require extensive backtracking. Statistically speaking, the following ten trophies are the rarest of the rare inClair Obscur, and it will probably be pretty obvious why that’s the case if you’re one of the select few that have collected all of them for the coveted Platinum trophy.
If you’re on the hunt for every trophy orachievement inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, these are going to give you the hardest time. Certain trophies such as"Peace at Last" will give you a serious run for your money if you’re looking for a challenge, as it requires defeating an incredibly difficult “secret” boss named Simon down in The Abyss. Others, such as"Feet Collection"require a commitment to defeating all the majorChromatic Nevron enemies, which can be time-consuming and frustrating depending on your skill level.
10Noir Et Blanc: Solve The Painting Workshop’s Mystery
Collect All Three Beast Items & Fight The Lampmaster To Solve This Mystery
Only roughly 20% of players across all platforms (Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox) have solved the mystery of thePainting Workshop inClair Obscur. While this mystery isn’t actually that complicated to solve, it does involve a few steps that might dissuade players from completing it fully. First, there are three separate Painting Workshop entrances, and when you find the first one, there’s likely going to be a big “DANGER!” warning, so players might just avoid it entirely.
At the time of this writing, only 8.9% of players have completed the"Greatest Expedition in History"Platinum trophy for PlayStation.
Secondly, each of these areas requires someserious platform/parkour skills to descend to the central platform, which can be extremely frustrating and cause players to give up. Finally, even after collecting all three Beast materials (i.e., Colour, Shape, and Light of the Beast), you have to defeat a very tough version of the Lampmaster boss, which is no joke, especially if you’re under-leveled.
9"Endless": Reach The Top Of The Endless Tower
The Endless Tower Entails 33 Trials & Will Put Your Skills To The Ultimate Test
Just a little over 18% of players on Steam have completed the Endless Tower, one ofClair Obscur’slate-game areasthat is essentially a gauntlet of enemies divided up across 11 stages with three trials each, totaling 33 very difficult encounters. It’s not a huge surprise this is one of the rarer achievements that many players haven’t unlocked, largely because it is entirely optional andrequires a high level of skill and understanding of each enemy’s move set.
You’ll need to level your characters up considerably and refine each of their builds to stand a chance in the Endless Tower, but this is also a great opportunity to multitask and unlock Monoco’s skills. Nearly all the Chromatic Nevrons you need to defeat for Monoco’s skills are found in the Endless Tower, sobe sure to have him in your active party as you attempt to fight your way to the top. There’s another secret boss waiting for you when you get there, Painted Love, a boss comprised of the Paintress and the Curator with a shared health bar.
8Lost Gestrals: Find All Of The Lost Gestrals
There Are Nine Lost Gestrals Across All Three Acts
I was surprised to find that only 15% of Steam users and 18% of PlayStation players have tracked down the nineLost Gestrals inClair Obscur. This isn’t a difficult task by any means, as all nine Gestrals are simply standing aroundtwiddling their thumbs in different spots in the Continent Overworld. However, most of them are located off the beaten path, so it makes sense that players wouldn’t find them unless they are actively seeking the Lost Gestrals out one by one.
Lost Gestrals are found all around the Continent, and when you find them, they’ll return back to camp and hang out with Sastro inside one of the caves. If you don’t track down all nine,I’d highly recommend at least finding the first four as early as you canbecause this will unlock the Paint Break ability, which you can use to smash through barriers in various locations.
7Feet Collection: Acquire All Of Monoco’s Skills
Use The Endless Tower For Monoco’s Missing Skills
Just 14% of Steam players have unlocked all of Monoco’s skills, which requires defeating specific Chromatic Nevron enemies and collecting their feet, hence the trophy name,“Feet Collection.“This is likely due to the fact thatmany of the enemies are quite difficult to take down, but also that some players simply don’t have Monoco in their active party during the main story progression and therefore don’t end up getting all of his skills.
As mentioned above, most of Monoco’s skills can be unlocked by taking advantage of the Endless Tower, which includes nearly all the Chromatic Nevrons you need for Monoco’s skill tree. There are a few exceptions, including the skill unlocked from Grosse Tete,Grosse Tete Whack, which is found on the Continent Overworld, or if you missed it there, you can find another Grosse Tete in Flying Manor.
6Gestral Games: Win All Of The Gestral Games
Complete All Five Gestral Beach Games For This Trophy
Completing all theGestral Beach Gamesis a pretty rare feat, and anyone who has attempted to do so will probably understand why. Each of these games poses a unique challenge inClair Obscurthat largely has to deal with platforming skills. There are five games in total:the Parkour Course, Foot Race, Beach Volleyball, the Ascension Tower, and the Climbing Tower.
Of these, thenightmarish Ascension Towerand Beach Volleyball game pose surprisingly difficult challenges for players, and speaking from experience, these are some of the most frustrating tasks in the entire game. Due to somewhat tricky platforming mechanics, the Ascension Tower has players falling and starting over time and time again, while the odd controls for Beach Volleyball can be hard to master.
5Aiding The Enemy: Finish All Of The Nevron Quests
Try Not To Kill The White Nevrons If You Can Avoid It
TheWhite Nevrons inClair Obscurare a unique set of (mostly) peaceful NPCs that each has a specific quest associated with it. There are ten of them in total, but most players likely overlook or bypass these, or simply don’t return to complete the associated quests. Players will skip some of these, such as the Benisseur in Red Woods whichrequires dumping a large amount of Chroma into the fountainthat you simply won’t have at your disposal early on.
You can technically kill these Nevrons, but you’ll end up missing out on a bounty of Colour of Lumina from Blanche, the final White Nevron found in The Fountain.
Others are more obscure and out of the way, such as the Portier in the Esoteric Ruins, which involves navigating a strange maze and tracking down some seemingly uselessWood Boards. Ultimately, you’ll need to complete all ten associated questsfor these various Nevrons to unlock this rare trophy.
4Peace At Last: Beat Simon
Simon Is By Far The Toughest Boss In Clair Obscur
Simon is far and away the hardest boss you’ll face inClair Obscur, with three incredibly challenging stages that most players simply never end up getting past without a “game-breaking” one-shot build that bypasses his toughest abilities.Simon is a “secret” bosslocated in The Abyss, a sub-area found after navigating through Renoir’s Drafts and dropping off a ledge into a literal abyss.
If you want to take on Simon the old-fashioned way, you have your work cut out for you, andyou’ll need to completely master your parry/dodge skills. Further, Simon has the ability to literally erase your active party from the Canvas for the fight, meaning you’ll need a solid reserve line ready to take him on. It’s no surprise only a small percentage of players have managed to defeat Simon, but theSimosoweapon is well worth the struggle. With thePatch 1.3.0 update, you’re able to even rematch him as many times as you like.
3Survivor: Reach Level 99
It Takes Dedication To Hit Max Level In Clair Obscur
Only 11.7% of players on Steam have reached the maximum level in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is not surprising given this can take between 60–80 hours and, in most cases, progressing well intoa NG+ run. Reaching level 99 takes a major time commitment above anything else, and unless you are actively trying to achieve this goal and fully complete all the optional side content as well, it’s not going to be high on your list of priorities.
Ultimately, reaching level 99 isn’t very rewarding either, considering at that point you’ll likely be able to destroy anything that gets in your way thanks to having maxed out weapons, a massive amount of Luminas and Pictos to choose from, etc. If you do make it to Level 99, however, you’ll get some well-earned bragging rights as well as this very rare trophy.
2Connoisseur: Find All 33 Music Records
Music Records Don’t Carry Over To NG+
Fewer than 10% of players on Steam have collected all 33Music Records inClair Obscur, and this is largely due to the fact that, unlike your weapons, Pictos, and Luminas, Music Records don’t carry over to NG+. Further, some of these Records are found in hidden locationsor inside the Manor itself, which requires finding and entering Manor doors spread out across the Continent.
Many optional areas such as Lost Woods and White Sands are dedicated almost entirely to specific Music Records, so be sure to explore each area as you progress through the game.
Music records are also found by defeating missable enemies such as theMime in Old Lumiere, or by advancing relationships with some of the main characters, such asLune or Sciel. Ultimately, collecting all Music Records is tricky becausethere are so many different methods of acquiring themthat are not always obvious or easy to figure out, and you’re able to’t pick up your progress in NG+.
1Follow The Trail: Find All The Journals From Prior Expeditions
Finding All 49 Expedition Journals Is No Easy Task
Similar to the above Music Records, findingall 49 Expedition Journalsisn’t something you’ll be able to pick up again in NG+, and you need to get them all in a single playthrough. These are sometimes equally challenging to find or are located in hidden areas, and it alsorequires defeating tough enemies like Simon.Overall, this is one of the rarest achievements in the game, and is neck-and-neck with the above “Connoisseur” trophy for rarest inClair Obscur.
Overall, these rare achievements and/or trophies inClair Obscur: Expedition 33all pose unique obstacles for players, and there’s a reason not many people are able or willing to unlock them. That said, none of these are exceedingly difficult to unlock if you have the right strategy and/or know where to look, and anyone with the time and patience can definitely unlock these rare trophies/achievements.
