Rush on in

Backward compatibility just rushed in, commanding and conquering one of the most well-known real-time strategy franchises. EveryCommand & Conquerrelease on the Xbox 360 is now playable on the Xbox One.

EA has bolstered its Xbox backward compatibility offerings by adding threeCommand & Conquertitles and an expansion pack. They are:Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars,Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath,Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, andCommand & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Commander’s Challenge. The last one,Commander’s Challenge, is a version ofRed Alert 3: Uprisingthat doesn’t contain the four mini-campaigns; it was adapted specifically for release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Of course, backward compatibility is not the most ambitiousCommand & Conquerproject taking place right now. EA and Petroglyph are working on4K PC remasters of the originalCommand & Conquerand the firstRed Alert. Think of backward compatibility like the appetizers and the remasters as the entree. It’s a good time for people who are into playing oldCommand & Conquergames.
