Acer’s laptops are usually great options in the very competitive market of gaming laptops, coming with amazing specs and equally premium prices. New laptops are always good, but it’s even better when they come with brand-new chips. Now, Acer is coming out with new laptops of its own—and they happen to be among the first ones debuting AMD’s latest lineup of laptop processors.
Acer has just launched its latest entries in its Nitro V 16 laptops, and they’re looking like superb 16-inch gaming laptops, coming with WQXGA or WUXGA display options, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 3ms response times. Perhaps the more interesting bit about them, though, is the fact that they come withAMD’s new Ryzen 8000-series mobile CPUs. It’s using processors in the 8040-series sub-family, and it’s available with up to a Ryzen 7 8845HS. The chips were just unveiled by AMD today, and this laptop is among the first to feature them.
This new batch of chips is notthatnoteworthy compared to other new-generation AMD chip releases, and if anything, we could compare these to AMD’s Ryzen 4000-series and 6000-series, which were both laptop-only—looks like this might be a recurring thing with Ryzen chips starting in even numbers. They feature AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, just like 7000-series chips, and are overall pretty similar to their predecessors.
As for other specs, we can get this laptop with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card, which should be able to bring you a smooth gaming experience—and we also have DLSS 3.5 just in case you need a little help with your framerates. It also has up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM as well as 2TB of storage, so you’re not really running low on anything, and the dual-fan cooling system should keep all of this hardware cool as winter.
The laptop will be available on store shelves starting on March 2024, at a $999.99 starting point. This is for the base option, of course, and the fully decked-out model with 32GB of RAM and an RTX 4060 will be costing more, although Acer isn’t clarifying how much more that will be.
