Not too long ago, the official Twitter account for the science fiction film franchise,Alien,shared a teasefor what is potentially a forthcoming sequel to Sega and Creative Assembly’s 2014 survival-horror game,Alien: Isolation. Now, it looks as if an announcement related to the title could be imminent, with the social media account giving another nod toA:I’s protagonist, Amanda Ripley, that possibly indicates a confirmation of a direct followup release will occur soon.
According to the tweet in question, it is said that Amanda Ripley will discover the secret left behind after the disappearance of the Nostromo–that is, the ship of her mother, Ellen Ripley–“no matter what” the cost, and that “in 2019, it will be uncovered”. With this being the case, many are speculating that Sega and Creative Assembly will soon announce that a sequel toAlien: Isolationis in the works, for not only is the current year mentioned, but also the tweet has the hashtag “#January” attached.
Of course, it’s still not totally clear if anAlien: Isolationgame is what is being referenced here, as it has previously been confirmed thatDark Horse Comicsis going to put out a comic book sequel toA:I’s story,entitledAliens: Resistance, with the first volume set to be released in January 2019. That said, though, the tweet above also uses the hashtag “#ReadPlayWatch”, which could be indicating that the comic book is coming first, then a video game sequel, and finally a film version.
Taking all of this into account, there’s no doubt thatAlien: Isolationfans would be excited to learn of a direct followup to the 2014 release, as many consider it to be one ofthe best modern horror gamesin existence. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see what transpires this month in regards to Amanda Ripley’s next adventure, and whether or not it will actually be something that will appeaseAlien: Isolationacolytes.
