Frictional Games, the legendary development studio behind theAmnesiaseries, has begun making a cryptic announcement about the next game to be released. Little information is currently known about the new game, but thanks to the Swedish studio’s previous history with horror games likeSOMA, it can be assumed that it’ll be wonderfully terrifying.

Frictional has been hard at work updating its online presence lately, consolidating all of the associated websites connected to the studio’s various games into one all encompassing website. This has likely been in preparation for the newest game that has been announced, as well as creating an ease of access for players who may just be dipping their toes in the classic horror series withAmnesia’s Switch release. Whatever the reason may be, Frictional Games will surely be one studio to keep an eye on in 2020, as more information goes out and as convention season begins to ramp up in the next few months.
This type of advertising is nothing new for the horror genre, especially the indi-horror genre, with developers like Scott Cawthon using the same types of viral campaigns to ramp up community interest. It’s gotten to the point that every newFNAFtrailershould come with an ARG instruction guide for how to unlock the secret codes hiding within the cryptic announcements. Considering how popular Friction Game’s previous titles have been, it won’t be long until some die hard fan has deciphered some sort of hieroglyph out of an overexposed edit of the blinking light, or some other convoluted real-life puzzle.
The Unannounced Game’s name and release date are both still TBA at this time.
