With the success of Nintendo’sAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, many of the series' characters have come to the forefront of video game discussions on the Internet. One of those characters is the entrepreneurial tanuki Tom Nook, who estimates have suggested may bericher than Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
One fan who goes by Happy-Breakfast on Reddit uploaded a video Wednesday showing off the construction of a delicious-looking Tom Nook chocolate cake created by Sugar High Score on TikTok. Its intricately designed fondant icing makes the cake a sight to behold, even if it’s disturbing to watch theAnimal Crossingcharacter get his face cut open at the end.

Nook’s presence in the series since its first entry and his in-game antics, from constant loan sharking to his feud with the shady fox Redd, have led to there being plenty offan-made memes online. Nook has a similar role inNew Horizonsbut he also shares some of the island duties with his sons and a few other helpers. Still, he’s arguably the most iconic character in the series and this Tom Nook cake is a good example ofAnimal Crossing’s popularity bleeding into real life.
With Tom Nook serving as one of the unofficial mascots forAnimal Crossing, it only makes sense that he be used in any number of fan creations. But while a lot of the fan creations have been artistic in nature, others choose to imagine what the future ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscould look like. One fan even created afake Nintendo Directthat highlights some “upcoming” features forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsthat they hope are actually in the works.
