Annapurna Interactive has just released a brand new gameplay demo for its latest titled calledLast Stop. Readers will likely know Annapurna Interactive as the publishers behindindie games likeWhat Remains of Edith FinchandThe Unfinished Swan.

However,Last Stopis a bit different from other Annapurna Interactive published titles, as it takes the form of a lighthearted adventure game, where players will make choices throughout the game that define the course of the narrative. This recent gameplay demo, released on the officialAnnapurna InteractiveYouTube channel, shows part of the story for two of the game’s protagonists: John and Jack.

The premise of John and Jack’s story is interesting in that the two men have inadvertently swapped bodies with one another through some kind of freak accident. As such, players will have to coordinate how they will tackle the day as John in Jack’s body without drawing suspicion. Like other adventure games, such asTelltale’sThe Walking Deadseries, players will have to make timed dialogue choices or pass quick-time button prompts that will dictate how the story plays out. However, unlike most adventure games,Last Stopseems very comedic in nature, as evident through the body-swapping premise of John and Jack’s story.

The gameplay demo itself is just under six minutes long and gives a solid idea of howLast Stop’s overall gameplay will play out. Interestingly, the beginning of the gameplay demo does provide some narration that makesLast Stop’s wacky premise even more interesting. Apparently, each of the three character stories that players will follow will be intertwined in some way, culminating in a “wild sci-fi adventure” with plenty of mysteriesto uncover. No definitive release date has been given forLast Stopjust yet, but the development team at Variable State has confirmed the game will release sometime in 2021.

Last Stopwill release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in 2021.
