While a new year just began, the latest season ofApex Legendsis already nearing its end. Believe it or not, Season 11 of the battle royale was released way back on November 2, meaningSeason 12 is likely to drop in February. Unsurprisingly, some fans are already speculating what new content will be coming next season. However, Respawn Entertainment is not done releasing content for the current season.

Recently, a new event was revealed forApex Legends.Known as Dark Depths, this upcoming update appears to continue the tropicalisland theme prevalent throughout Season 11. Specifically, this event is themed around the oceanic myths and folklore surrounding the islands of the New Antillia archipelago. According to the developer, the fun gets underway on January 11 and continues until February 1.

As with other limited-time events inApex Legends, Dark Depths will bring many cosmetics to the game, 40 to be exact. In a recent trailer, players received a glimpse at some of the new items coming with the event. Among the limited-time cosmetics, several Legendary skins were seen. Some of the Legends getting a new look for the event include Horizon, Lifeline, Fuse, Caustic, and Ash. These new skins have designs based around water, keeping with the event theme. In addition to new character outfits, a collection of new weapon skins, banners, and Holosprays are being added.

Players will be able to obtain these event-themed cosmetics with crafting metals or by opening Dark Depths packs. In addition, these items will be included in the standard Apex pack pool of items. Beyond the collectibles available in Dark Depths packs, players can obtain even more cosmetics through Flash Events. According to Respawn Entertainment, these are the equivalent of weekly prize trackers. Among the rewards available through these Flash Events include Holosprays, an Epic Alternator skin, and an Epic Revenant skin.

In addition to these aquatic-themed cosmetics, Respawn Entertainment is adding a new Arenas map known as Habitat. This new 3v3 map keeps the same tropical island feel asthe Storm Point mapfor the battle royale. Some highlights of the Arenas map include the Cave and the Nest. Occupying high ground on opposite sides of the map, these POIs provide cover to players while also offering flanking routes to other areas. Beyond these locations, Habitat even has a Leviathan towering in the nearby ocean.

It is doubtlessly exciting for many fans to receive more content forApex Legendsbefore the end of Season 11. It will be interesting to see what other surprises thedevelopers at Respawn Entertainmenthave in store in the days ahead.
