Summary
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconwill have a brand new feature that essentially no FromSoftware game has offered before: a photo mode. The new title promises to be an exciting newentry in theArmored Corefranchise, which hasn’t seen any new games since 2013.
Along withKing’s Field,Armored Coreis one of FromSoftware’s oldest franchises, starting back in 1997. WhileArmored Core 6will use the same engine asElden Ring, it will probably feel very different, ditching the Soulslike action to focus on mecha building and fighting instead.

It was recently revealed by PlayStation Japan thatArmored Core 6: Fire of Rubiconwill have Photo Mode. By using this mode, players will be able to stop the action and take screenshots of the game from different angles while hiding the HUD. In the video, it’s possible to see the Photo Mode in action, which is set to allow gamers to change the brightness of the screen, add filters, and more.
Together with the inclusion of Photo Mode, it seems thatArmored Core 6will allow players to pause the game at any moment during the action. While such an option may seem like a given for most games, this feature was not very present in previous FromSoftware titles. For example,Elden Ringdid not allow players to pausenormally, and the same can be said aboutDark SoulsandBloodborne. OnlySekirohas allowed pausing, likely due to how it was a fully single-player experience.
Photo Mode and pausing at any time are not the only relevant news about the upcomingArmored Core 6, though. FromSoftware has also revealed some importantdetails about the frame rate ofArmored Core 6. According to the developer, the game will target 60 FPS on both PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, but last-gen consoles will be locked at 30 FPS for a stable performance. On the other hand, PC gamers will gain access to 4K resolution and 120 FPS, which makes the PC the best platform to experienceArmored Core 6, provided the gamer has a powerful enough rig.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconwill be available on July 25, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
