PC gamers enjoying Mundfish’s alternate history first-person shooterAtomic Heartcan already tweak many aspects of their gameplay experience thanks to an influx of mods for the game. Having access to a variety of modifications is one of the perks of playing games on PC, and the modding community has been attributed with keeping worlds like Bethesda’sSkyrimalive more than 11 years after launch. Now it’s the turn ofAtomic Heartto get some modifications.

It can almost be said that a game’s popularity can be gauged somewhat by how quickly after release mods begin to make an appearance. Despite the amplified degree of controversy surrounding it, for example,Hogwarts Legacymods like one that added a Shrek broombegan to appear online within a day of launch. And a mod can do everything from making simple quality-of-life changes like adjusting save behavior or adding localization to implementing major graphics overhauls.

Coincidentally,Atomic Heartshas also experienced its share of controversy, and the game also already has a decent collection of mods available for PC players. Mundfish’s debut title released on February 21, and more than 30 mods for the first-person role-playing title can already be found on Nexus Mods, one of the most well-known game modification websites. As expected, when a game first comes out, the majority of these tweaks aim at adding or improving upon basic quality-of-life features. A major issue that’s immediately apparent when starting upAtomic Heart, for example, is the miniscule subtitle text, and there is now a mod to fix that.

There are of course alsoAtomic Heartmods that focus on more fun aspects of the game, with a few of them targeting the starting firearm. For example, “Shotgun of Death (KS-23)” essentially turns the weapon intoan obliterator, with infinite damage, no recoil, and an improved fire rate. Other mods increase the player’s inventory and storage size, overhaul the graphics, and add a flashlight, which is questionably missing from the game. There is even a mod that turnsBreaking Bad’s Saul Goodmaninto a weapon that replaces the starting axe.

In addition to the the controversy thatAtomic Hearthas been dealing with since before launch, the game has also received a somewhat mixed reception. While some people are thoroughly enjoying Mundfish’s offering,Atomic Hearthas some persistent performance issues, most notably on Xbox Series consoles, a situation that many players find questionable because the title was offered day one on Game Pass. Additionally, the game launched without ray tracing support on PC, even though that was a touted selling point in the years leading up to release.

Atomic Heartis currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
