Below Deck Down Underseason 3 hasn’t been easy for the majority of the show’s crew, but the issues that Chief Stew Lara Rigby has dealt with throughout the seasonhave proven thatthough she’s still surviving the difficulties of the season, she hasn’t been a good managerfor the interior team. While Lara isn’t the biggest problem onBelow Deck Down Underseason 3, some of her issues are being overlooked by viewers as there have been bigger things to worry about throughout the season. Lara’s behavior has been called out, but her management style is truly the issue.
Lara, who had big shoes to fill coming intoBelow Deck Down Underseason 3’s castin place of fan favorite Chief Stew Aesha Scott, has been a tough sell forBelow Deckviewers. Seemingly all-business, Lara has had a tough time with the rest of the interior team and others aboard Katina throughout the charter season. Though she’s developed a decent relationship with Captain Jason Chambers,Lara has struggled to connect with the rest of the crew in a meaningful way, failing to build rapport. This makes her often cross-sounding directions and demands seem worse than they actually are.
Working poorly with her crew, Lara’s struggles aren’t making a great first impression on the series.
Lara Has Been A Hard Sell All Season

Although Lara has had moments of success throughoutBelow Deck Down Underseason 3, the majority of her time on screen hasn’t been resonating. While Lara clearly enjoys her work and has a wide spanning knowledge of the yachting industry,her ability to connect with crew members who are working beneath her is at an all-time low. The interior staff hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye with Lara, and she seems to be known for being difficult more than for her competency as a Chief Stew. Viewers, unfortunately, have struggled to find themselvesinterested in Lara as a long-term replacementfor Aesha.
Lara’s Difficulties With Tzarina Are Overwhelming
She’s Right, But She’s Overstepping
As Lara has worked through challenges onBelow DeckDown Underthis season, it’s been clear that her biggest issues are with Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph now that Wihan is out of the picture. While Chef Tzarina hasn’t been doing a great job in her own right, there have been a fair number of issues that have cropped up between the women as they’ve tried to work together. Though some of the issues that have come up are more about the guests having poor communication, Lara and Tzarina haven’t been able to reach any common ground.
For Lara, who’s new to the franchise and wanting to earn her place,butting heads with a veteran crew member like Tzarina is an odd choice. Though it could create drama that lends to the reality TV side of things and helps the audience remember her as a Chief Stew, Lara has just seemed unreasonable as she’s dealt with Tzarina most of the time. AsLara and Tzarina have continued to clash, neither has found themselves looking good from the behavior, but Lara’s side of things has been tiring as she’s come off like a stereotypical mean girl.

As Lara has moved through theBelow Deck Down Undercharter season, it’s clear that she’s not having an easy time in her role. While it was more understandablewhile she was dealing with Wihanaboard the superyacht, Lara hasn’t been able to find her footing throughout the first half of the season at all. Now, moving into the second half ofBelow Deck Down Underseason 3, it’s clear that though Lara thinks differently, her management skills are on par with Wihan’s. Working poorly with her crew,Lara’s struggles aren’t making a great first impression on the series.
