Treyarch took to Twitter earlier today to reveal exactly whenCall of Duty: Black Ops 4fans can try theBlackout beta. The private beta for the Blackout battle royale mode will go live on September 10 on PS4, and will be available on other platforms at an undetermined, later date.
To gain access to the beta, fans simply need to pre-orderCall of Duty: Black Ops 4, and they should get a code that will let them join in on the action. However, it remains to be seen exactly what kind of “action” fans have to look forward to, as Treyarch is still keeping much of the Blackout mode under wraps at the time of this writing.
While there’s no gameplay footage, the teaser video Treyarch posted on Twitter to reveal the start date for the Blackout beta does at least confirm that there will be three modes for players to choose from. In theBlack Ops 4Blackout beta, players will have access to Solos, Duos, and Quads (four players per team - other battle royale games typically refer to this as “squads”), so it should provide a familiar experience to players ofFortniteandPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
With the Blackout private beta less than a month away, one would imagine that we would have more information on the game mode, but as previously stated, much of it is still a mystery. In fact, we just recently gotour first, brief glimpses at Blackoutin the trailer for the multiplayer beta, and while it wasn’t a detailed look, it did show typical battle royale action, except with aCall of Dutyspin and some helicopters.
Presumably, we will get a closer look at Blackout prior to the start of the beta on September 10. Moreover, it seems likely that more details about what exactly the beta itself will entail will come to light as we near its start date, like how long it will last and when exactly PC and Xbox One owners can join the chaos.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4will launch on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
