Bravely Second: End Layer, a 3DS title, has made a shocking comeback to the Nintendo charts, rising to second place of the top-ten best-selling games of the week. And no, the game isn’t available for purchase on Nintendo Switch, meaning that the game has garnered these exponential sales just through the 3DS.
This sequel of theBravely Defaultseries was released back in 2016, making this resurgence to the top charts even more unprecedented. On the UK gaming charts, it sits in second placejust behindThe Last of Us Part 2, which is currently dominating gaming news and live streams.

But despiteEnd Layer’spopularity and high review scoreswhen it released, releasing four years ago didn’t stop it from creeping up to compete with other titles likeRing Fit AdventureandAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, which recently re-entered the top ten after fumbling down the UK list last week.
ThoughEnd Layeris reported to have high scores across the board, Square Enix previouslyapologized forBravely Secondnot living up to fan’s expectationsof the series. This confused many fans, as the game was widely well-received by both critics and casual players, and many jumped toBravely Second’s defense. As recent evidence in the UK chart suggests, Square Enix clearly has nothing to apologize for regarding the title’s enjoyment and playability.
But players shouldn’t expectBravely Default 2to replaceBravely Second. The new sequel to the series, set to release in 2020, will feature a whole new story with a completely new cast of characters along with it.
Bravely Second: End Layeris currently playable on the 3DS.
