The comedy series originally aired from 2000 to 2006, and followed Muniz’s Malcolm and his dysfunctional family. Throughout the series, Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) struggle to raise their sons, with Malcolm being a genius prodigy. Now, almost 20 years after the series finale, theupcomingMalcolm in the Middlerevivalwill see the return of Malcom and his family.

One Key Role Has Been Recast
When theMalcolm in the Middlerevival was announced in December 2024, it was accompanied by a video that featured Muniz, Cranston, and Kaczmarek. The video featured Cranston and Kaczmarek yelling “Malcolm!“that sounded exactly like their characters from decades ago. However, it is still very exciting to see them all on set together so long after the conclusion of the series.Malcolm, Hal, and Lois appeared in every season of the series, and were three of thebest characters inMalcolm in the Middle.
In addition to Malcolm, Lois, and Hal, theMalcolm in the Middlerevival will also see the return of popular characters like Francis, Reese, and Dewey. However, while Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will reprise their roles as Malcolm’s older brothers,Erik Per Sullivan will not return as Dewey. Sullivan stepped away from acting at a young age. As a result, Dewey has been recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. While there will be some changes, the revival of the beloved series is still very exciting.
