As the wedding of Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) gets closer inChicago PD, eyes are on whether any familiar faces will return. Most people want to see Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), although that is likely not happening due to Jesse Lee Soffer filming the final season ofFBI: Internationalwhen theChicago PDseason 12finale was filming. There is another former member of the Intelligence Unit who needs to return instead, though.
Antonio Dawon (Jon Seda) hasn’t been seen since his exit at the end ofChicago PDseason 6. While we have had an update about his progress via anotherOne Chicagoseries,Chicago Fire, it’s time to physically see how he is doing. After all, it’s not like Burgess and Ruzek wouldn’t at least consider inviting him to their wedding. While it would be the perfect time to see his character,there are potential issues with his returning to the series.

Dawson Is Still Alive And Well In The One Chicago Universe
One thing we do know is that Dawson is alive, and he’s well, as Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) explained when she returned as a guest star inChicago Fire. After getting help for his drug addiction, he moved to Puerto Rico to help his sister with the humanitarian aid, and that led to him finding a new purpose in life.Bringing him back for the wedding would offer us a chance to see that he’s well, considering he was written out in such a shocking and heartbreaking way.
The wedding makes the most sense, considering Dawson is attached to both Burgess and Ruzek professionally and personally. He looked out for both of them during his time with the Intelligence Unit, and they were both surprised to hear that he had suffered from a drug addiction that Voight (Jason Beghe) had covered up.Inviting Dawson to their wedding shows that they still think about him and care about him, while also wanting to celebrate with him.
Why Dawson Is More Important To Attend Than Jay Halstead
While Halstead was onChicago PDfor longer than Dawson, he didn’t work all that closely with the couple getting married. The majority of his storylines were initially linked to Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and then to Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). Without working with Burgess and Ruzek all that much, they didn’t form the close bond that would lead to them inviting him to their wedding, especially considering he ghosted Upton and the rest of the team after his exit inChicago PDseason 10.
There is already a more personable professional relationship there, so it would make more sense for Burgess to want to see Dawson at her wedding.
Meanwhile, Dawson had a much closer relationship to the happy couple, especially with Burgess. The two used to be partners when they were patrol officers, until Dawson’s career advanced. DuringChicago PDseason 3, Burgess turned to Dawson when a case involving a college professor unsettled her and her then-partner Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty).There is already a more personable professional relationship there, so it would make more sense for Burgess to want to see thisChicago PDcharacterat her wedding.
What Are The Chances That Jon Seda Will Appear In The Chicago PD Season 12 Finale?
Jon Seda Is Open To The Opportunity To Return
In some good news, Seda is willing to return to the series.He has no hard feelings about being written out of the showahead ofChicago PDseason 7, and he would jump at the chance to return, even if it was just for a scene or two, and this is something he has remained steadfast on since his exit. This could open the door for a cameo appearance in theChicago PDseason 12 finale.
“If they called me and said, ‘Hey, we’d love to talk about you coming in for even just one scene or two’ or whatever, I totally would be down with it.”
According toOne Chicago Center, he also shared some bad news,which does arguably rule out a return in the wedding, but maybe there is an option forChicago PDseason 13. There are no plans to bring him back just yet. It has been many years since he departed the series, and many others, such as Halstead and Upton, have left since. Right now, there hasn’t been much of a reason to bring Dawson back, and Seda only wants to return if there is a genuine reason for it. We think Burgess and Ruzek’s wedding inChicago PDseason 12 is the perfect genuine reason for it.
