EveryCall of Dutyrelease is practically guaranteed to be a hit, and it seems thatCall of Duty: Mobileis no exception. A lot has happened since its release on October 1st, exactly a week prior to this time of writing, includingCoD: Mobilerandomly dropping controller support. That hasn’t slowed its roll, apparently, as the mobile shooter has topped the download charts, beating other similar mobile games, likeFortniteandPUBG.
According to industry analysis site Sensor Tower,Call of Duty Mobilehas racked up 100 million downloads within the first week. For context, this number is more thanFortniteandPUBG Mobilecombined and doubled. Within its first week,Fortnite’s mobile release had 22.5 million downloads, whereasPUBG Mobilereceived 26.3 million, making it clear thatCoD Mobiledidn’t just top these games, it blew them out of the water.

On top of that, Head of Mobile Insights at Sensor Tower Randy Nelson reveled thatCOD Mobile’s100 million downloadshas been “by far the largest mobile game launch in history in terms of the player base that’s been built in the first week.” These strong numbers reflect worldwide unique downloads from both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store within the same period.
On the one hand, this is likely due to the fact that it is aCall of Dutygame. After all, analysts have predicted that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would top thebest-selling games of 2019, and the long-running popularity of the franchise outweighs the more-recent and incredibly popularFortnite. What remains to be seen is how strong these numbers remain forCall of Duty: Mobile, but this is no doubt a strong start.
On the other hand, this also means thatCall of Duty: Mobileis a good game, as many fans wouldn’t download the game if they had heard a lot of major negativity.CoD: Mobilehas a bot problem, but that doesn’t mean the game isn’t any fun, which is always the point at the end of the day.
