Activision has revealed the gameplay trailer forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,that unveiled new combat locations and other details about the game’s story. The trailer was unveiled after alive event inCall of Duty: Warzone, which established the backstory forModern Warfare 3.
Activision had hinted thatAugust 17 would be a big day forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and it managed to live up to the hype as it dropped exciting details about the next title in the rebootedModern Warfaresubseries. During the reveal event inWarzone, players were given a glimpse of how the Russian Ultra-nationalists working for Valdimir Makarov infiltrated a group of Shadow Company operatives and killed them after recovering the missiles from Al Mazrah, after which the trailer was revealed along with more details about the game’s campaign.

The officialCall of Dutyblog revealed more information about the game’s campaign, where Captain Price-led Task Force 141 fights to stop Makarov from inciting another World War. WithCall of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Activision is introducing a concept called “Open Combat Missions,” which will allow players the freedom to choose their approach to a mission. For instance, players can choose to run a mission with a “lights-out approach” using night-vision goggles and stealth weapons, or they can go guns blazing as well. Additionally, players will also be able to use all sorts of gear, weapons, and vehicles in the mission area, and will be able to fully customize their gameplay in these Open Combat Missions. Moreover, players who just want a standardCall of Dutycampaign experience will be able to enjoy the missions like the previous games as well.
Interestingly,Makarov was nowhere to be seen in theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3gameplay trailer. Another important antagonist, General Shepherd, was also missing in the trailer, which paints a curious picture for the game’s story. Additionally, the Shadow Company CEO, Phillip Graves, is also seemingly alive and could be another hurdle in Captain Price’s path in the game’s story.
Activision is also bringing back 16 classic multiplayer maps from the 2009Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Furthermore, map voting is also coming back to the multiplayer mode, and around 12 new multiplayer maps will be launched as a part of the post-launch content. Activision is also revamping its approach to Zombies by introducing anopen-world Zombies map inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
