A new exploit has emerged inCall of Duty: Warzone 2’s DMZ mode, where players can rack up a near-endless supply of high-level contraband weapons with relative ease.Exploits inCall of Duty’s version of an Extraction Shooteraren’t a new occurrence, and following past examples, this exploit is likely to be patched relatively quickly. Yet, as this exploit isn’t directly affecting a player’s performance in a PvP situation, a part of the DMZ community will be disappointed when the eventual fix arrives.
As previously mentioned, the DMZ mode isCall of Duty’s take on the Extraction Shooter genre, made famous by titles likeEscape From Tarkov. In this mode, players are harshly penalized upon death, with their valuable gear and loot being dropped on the ground for everyone else to scavenge. While there is an insurance system to recover your ideal gear quickly, players mostly rely on contraband weapons to see their DMZ run through. Contraband weapons are only modifiable at limited locations, and the best ones are usually acquired from dead players orhigh-tier loot spots inCall of Duty: Warzone 2DMZ, though this exploit is sure to change that.

A YouTuber named G_Traits has posted their discovery of this exploit on YouTube, showcasing that players can get two fully modded and tuned insured weapons as contrabands per run. The video shows the player loading into Al Mazrah with two insured weapons and heading straight to the entrance toCall of Duty: Warzone 2DMZ’s latest Koschei Complex, located in the Oasis zone. G_Traits then stands at the vault door, drops their insured weapons, and promptly picks them back up before heading into the new area. Upon the loading screen popping up, the player closes the game entirely before relaunching to show that their previously insured weapons are now contrabands despite the insured slots not having a cooldown, thus confirming the exploit’s success.
G_Traits clarifies that this exploit can be done with one insured slot and on free-to-play accounts, albeit at a much slower pace. The player further notes that every entrance to Koschei Complex is viable for this exploit. However, as the other three locations are inside areas with heavy AI presence and can have hostile players dropping in, the Oasis entrance is likely the safest bet for solo players. WithCall of Duty: Warzone 2DMZ becoming increasingly PvP-heavy in recent updates, this exploit will benefit players who want to save copies of their best weapons for future use or for new players who wish to unlock attachments.
Among the plethora of bugs, glitches, and theoccasional creative hacker plaguingCall of Duty: Warzone 2, this exploit is relatively harmless, considering the complexity and threat players deal with for each duplication run. However, as the developers polish the Season 3 Reloaded patch, a fix for this exploit will come sooner or later.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
