About a couple of weeks ago, Jon Horsley of Sledgehammer Games discussed the studio’s take on the newZombies modecoming inCall of Duty: WW2, with the developer explaining that the team’s intent is to make it the most frightening version of the mode possible. In order to further explicate the terror involved in the mode, the company’s co-founder Glen Schofield recently shared several stills of some undead monsters expected to show their decaying faces in the title.

As seen in the tweets below, Schofield has definitely picked several zombies with the ugliest and most unseemly mugs imaginable, and they do a great job of conveying the nightmarish nature of the studio’s take on the staple mode coming toCall of Duty: WW2. While a couple of them have been shown off previously, fans are at least being given a look at them from different angles to display the high level of detail of their design.

WhileCall of Duty: WW2’s Nazi Zombies will retain a lot of familiar elements that made the mode so memorable and enjoyable, Sledgehammer Games has previously stated that it intends on shaking up its formula bymaking some changes to the gameplay. Not to mention, in order to reflect a much scarier experience this time around, the developer has had to implement a darker shift in tone.

For those unaware,Call of Duty: WW2’s Nazi Zombies plot is set to involve players searching for stolen art, but discovering reanimated undead soldiers instead. The story will be supported by an all-star cast of actors, withVikings' Katheryn Winnick as Marie Fischer,Daredevil’s Elodie Yung playing Olivia Durant,Doctor Who’s David Tennant taking on the role of Drostan Hynd, andPulp Fiction’sVing Rhamesstarring as Jefferson Potts.

Taking all of this into account, it will be interesting to see what other fearsome foes Sledgehammer Games cooks up forCall of Duty: WW2’s Zombies mode. Of course, with the first-person shooter’s release date still more than a month away, there’s always a chance for the developer to put out even more nightmare fuel in the days and weeks to come.

Call of Duty: WW2is slated to release on Jun 10, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
