The live service titlePokemon GOcontinues to evolve and often change, both with long form content like seasons that span over months, in addition to shorter and limited time events like spotlight hours and community days. In terms of spotlight hours, players have an hour to catch specific Pokemon that are featured, while Community Day happens once per month over a few hours whenPokemon GOmakes a specific creature widely available. Part of the appeal of Community Day is the fact that it’s much easier to find shiny variants due to how many appear at a given time.

Recently,Pokemon GOadded a new feature called Routes, while also kicking off a new event for trainers to participate in as well. Routes essentially allow players to not only see where they’ve walked, but also to record and share their walking paths and discoveries to others in the community. It’s a good way to help others discover a rare or powerful Pokemon spawn point, or an optimal path with multiple gyms, raids, or other landmarks along the route.

The latestPokemon GOevent called Blazing New Trailsis live from July 21-24, giving players a prime opportunity to add Zygarde to their roster. However, the event also features a handful of other creatures appearing more often in the wild like Lillipup, making it even more likely that a shiny version may appear. Here’s everything players need to know.

Can Lillipup Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

While not every creature available to catch inPokemon GOcurrently has a shiny version, Lillipup does. Players will know they have one based on the sparkle animation as Lillipup appears, the icon near its name, as well as the alternative color. A normal Lillipup has a darker brown body with a lighter tan face, while its shiny version has a lighter tan body with an almost yellow colored face. Unlike some other Pokemon likeCharizard which have a completely different looking shiny version, Lillipup is definitely more on the subtle side.

Thankfully, Lillipup isn’t terribly rare to find in the wild unlike other Pokemon such as the psychic type Munna, so getting a shiny version is a bit more viable considering how often players will be finding it. Currently,Pokemon GOhas no shortage of rare shiny creaturesto track down though players need to be lucky, persistent, or a bit of both as the base shiny rate for most encounters is 1 in 500. Thankfully, with Lillipup part of the Blaze New Trails event, players may have even greater chances to nab a shiny version.

Can Lillipup Evolve in Pokemon GO?

Originally introduced inside of the Unova region of Generation 5, the normal-type Lillipup has a three stage evolution process. Thankfully,Lillipup’s evolutionary forms of Herdier and Stoutlandalso have shiny forms, each with more distinct color changes like the green back fur and golden yellow face markings.

Once Lillipup has been captured,Pokemon GOtrainers will need to save up 25 candy for the first evolution of Herdier. From there, an additional 100 candy is needed to take Herdier to its final form, the “Big-Hearted Pokemon” known as Stoutland.
