Chris Pratthas become a movie star with some impressive franchises to his name, but some of his sequels are better than others. While he was once known as the lovable goofballAndy Dwyer onParks and Recreation, Pratt became one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood after getting cast inGuardians of the Galaxy.

From there, Pratt’s star has continued to rise withpopular sci-fi rolesand a number of voice acting performances that have led to even more franchises. Even Pratt’s television projects lead to franchises, with thenewTerminal Listspinoffdebuting. Though not all the sequels Pratt has appeared in are great, some rise above their predecessors.

The Cast Of Jurassic World Dominion Looking Confused

9Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

As Owen Grady

WithJurassic World Rebirthoffering a soft reboot to the franchise,Jurassic World Dominionseems to be the finalJurassic Parkmovie that Pratt appears in. It is also the movie that brought together the new Jurassic World cast with theoriginalJurassic Parkcast. So it’s quite disappointing that the sequel ends up being the worstJurassic Parkmovie.

Jurassic World Dominionpicks up with the promise of dinosaurs living in the world among humans, but it does very little to capitalize on that concept. Instead, the movie inexplicably focuses on genetically modified locusts and a human clone plot that feels like it is out of another sci-fi franchise.

Pom Klementieff as Mantis Chris Pratt as Star-Lord Peter Quill and Chris Hemsworth as Thor in Marvel Studios THOR 4 LOVE AND THUNDER featured

Pratt is back in the lead role of Owen Grady, but the same character flaws are there, with the movie only interested in making Owen look cool and failing to give him any real personality. Even the nostalgia of seeing Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum together again cannot save the movie.

8Thor: Love And Thunder (2022)

As Peter Quill / Star-Lord

Following the tease of Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end ofAvengers: Endgame, Chris Pratt and the other Guardians get a brief role in Thor’s fourth solo adventure. The movie finds Thor reconnecting with his old flame, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), while taking on the villainous Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale).

Thor: Love and Thunderalso sees the return of Taika Waititi as writer and director of the sequel. However, while Waititi’s comedic take helped save the franchise inThor: Ragnarok, the jokey tone took away from the stakes in this movie. However,Hemsworth is still pitch-perfect as the God of Thunder, and there are some surprising emotional moments.

Chris Pratt in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Pratt’s role is quite small, with the Guardians only appearing in the opening sequence. With the focus on Thor, their cameo goes largely unnoticed, without any of the fun banter between Thor and Star-Lord from their previous run-ins.

7Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Chris Pratt cemented himself as the new lead of theJurassic Parkfranchise with his return as Owen Grady inJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The movie finds Owen reuniting with Claire Temple (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they return to the abandoned park to save the dinosaurs from the island’s impending destruction.

WhileJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s opening sequenceis a terrific horror set piece, the movie falls apart with some unnecessary and silly subplots taking place off the island. From black market dinosaurs to the misguided cloning storyline, it takes too much away from the dino-action that fans want to see.

The LEGO Movie 2 The Second Part Rex Dangervest and Emmet

Pratt’s Owen is given a little more personality this time around, but it is still an underwhelming protagonist for these sequels. However, whenFallen Kingdomfocuses on the dinosaurs, there are some fun sequences and more reliance on practical effects compared to the previous movie.

6The Lego Movie Part 2: The Second Part (2019)

As Emmet Brickowski & Rex Dangervest

While Chris Pratt hasGarfieldandSuper Mariosequels on the horizon,The Lego Movie Part 2is the only animated sequel for the actor to date. The second movie brings the audience back to the hilarious and inventive world of Lego as Emmet and his friends have to face an alien invader, with help from a mysterious new hero.

Along with voicing the friendly and grounded Emmet, Pratt also provides the voice of the new dashing hero,Rex Dangervest. As a galaxy-defender, archaeologist, cowboy, and raptor trainer, Rex is a hilarious take onPratt’s famous movie franchise characters. It is a lot of fun seeing the actor willing to poke fun at his new action hero persona.

Owen protecting Claire and the kids in Jurassic World

The Lego Moviewas such a surprise when it was released that it is hard for the sequel to recapture the charm and magic of the first movie. However, while it might not feel quite as fresh, it is still a funny and vivid animated movie that is filled with in-jokes and references that reward repeat viewings.

5Jurassic World (2015)

It had been nearly 15 yearssince the lastJurassic Parkmoviewhen the franchise was brought back to life.Jurassic Worldalso fulfilled the idea fans had wanted to see since the originalJurassic Parkmovie, with the actual park up and running for the public. Of course, it’s only a matter of time before the dinosaurs break out.

Following the breakout success ofGuardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic Worldcemented Chris Pratt as one of the new movie stars in Hollywood. While his action-hero role of Owen Grady is not a very interesting character, Pratt is front and center, riding motorcycles alongside raptors and bringing plenty of swagger to the role.

Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in Endgame looking offscreen

Jurassic Worldfalls short of recapturing the magic of the original movie, especially with the over-reliance on CGI. However, it is a grand blockbuster that makes good on its dinosaur action, with the deadly Indominus Rex making for one of the franchise’s scariest monsters.

4Avengers: Endgame (2019)

In terms of an MCU sequel,Avengers: Endgameis one of the best. However, when it comes to a Chris Pratt sequel, fans might be left wanting a little more. The movie takes place in the aftermath ofAvengers: Infinity War’s shocking cliffhangeras the remaining Avengers assemble for a bold mission to set things right.

The film serves as the culmination of the entire MCU up until that point, bringing in various storylines and character arcs, while also giving purpose to some of the forgotten MCU movies of the past. It is a daunting task for one film to pull off, butAvengers: Endgameends up being a complete triumph.

Chris Pratt as Star-Lord standing in front of a fiery background in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

It is a funny, emotional, and thoroughly satisfying superhero epic that celebrates the improbable cinematic universe that has been built.Though Pratt’s role is small, he gets to appear in the movie’s incredible climax.

3Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

It remains to be seen ifStar-Lord will return in the MCU, but the Guardians of the Galaxy that we have come to love got an emotional ending.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3takes a look at the tragic backstory of Rocket while also seeing the Guardians facing off with the powerful new enemy, the High Evolutionary.

The movie serves each of the main characters well, with their arcs reaching a satisfying place that allows the audience to say goodbye to them after all this time.Pratt gets some nice moments as Peter Quill comes to terms with his broken relationship with Gamora and how to move on from that.

Peter Quill aka Star-Lord loses his Celestial powers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

James Gunn also delivers some terrific action sequences in the film, showing how far he has come as an action movie director. Yet at the center of it all is this warm, moving, and beautiful ode to one of the best MCU teams.

2Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy returned for their first sequel after announcing themselves as some of the most exciting new characters in the MCU.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2finds Peter Quill confronting his father, Ego (Kurt Russell), and discovering the truth about who he really is.

The sequel doesn’t quite have the same spark as when we were first introduced to these characters, but they still make for a funny, dysfunctional, and endearing group of heroes.Pratt continues to prove Quill to be his best movie character of his career, blending action, comedy, romance, and tragedy into one role.

Chris Pratt As Star-Lord Yelling At Thanos In Avengers Infinity War

James Gunn cements his unique ability to tell big and flashy superhero stories that are also filled with complex characters and very human emotions.

1Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

After being off in their own little corner of the MCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy were brought into the fold inAvengers: Infinity War. This is the movie that also saw Thanos step out of the shadows and prove himself as theMCU’s greatest villainto date, as he commenced his mission to gather all of the Infinity Stones.

Pratt gets a substantial role as Quill, and the Guardians meet up with the Avengers to take on the Mad Titan. It is a lot of fun seeing Quill interacting with the likes of Tony Stark and Thor. However, there are also some emotional moments, with Quill and Gamora’s relationship taking an unexpected turn.

Infinity Waris a pulse-pounding and fast-paced experience that drives towards an ending that shatters the entire MCU and delivers an emotional gut-punch that is still effective despite where the MCU has gone since then.
