Cyberpunk 2077was announced more than five years ago, and a lot of fans of the RPG and its developer are eager to play it. Naturally, many would love to take part in aCyberpunk 2077beta to help test and improve the game, or just to play it a bit earlier.
However, developer CD Projekt RED has now revealed that it has no plans for aCyberpunk 2077beta. On Twitter, a fan asked the officialCyberpunk 2077account if testing will be open or closed when the game enters alpha or beta. The account said that the game’s development team has “no plans for closed/open beta.”
Some fans will be disappointed by the news, and not just because it means they won’t get to play the game before it is officially released to everyone. Many will have hoped that CD Projekt RED planned to host aCyberpunk 2077beta in order to ensure that the game runs as smoothly as possible.Cyberpunk 2077will feature amassive open-world, and that means the development team may not have been able to scour every inch of it in order to sniff out, locate, and fix any bugs.
The game also features lots of moving parts, both figuratively and literally. From the many choices that players can have which affect the narrative toNPC reactions to the player character’s movements,Cyberpunk 2077will be full of smaller features.
The more components brought toCyberpunk 2077means that there will be more scrutiny required of the development team to test and predict what may go wrong. It may be able to guess and fix an issue of dialogue not loading properly, but without players stress testing the game via beta, the studio may not be able to ascertain that a character with specific skills and weapons in a certain building will cause the game to glitch and fail to load a mission.
Nevertheless, despite the lack of a beta period, it’s possible that fans won’t have long to wait until they can play the game for themselves. Some of the new posts from theCyberpunk 2077Twitter account have led some fans to believe that arelease date isn’t far off.
Cyberpunk 2077is expected to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but the game has yet to receive an official release date.
