Rumors have started spreading online yet again that CD Projekt Red’sCyberpunk 2077is coming to Xbox Game Pass, but fans shouldn’t get too excited. Rumors first started last year thatCyberpunk 2077was coming to Xbox Game Pass, but nothing ever came of it.

Last February, an image made the rounds online that seemingly showedCyberpunk 2077listed for Xbox Game Pass. This led many to believe that the game was coming to Microsoft’s service at some point down the line, as accurate Xbox Game Pass leaks happen regularly. However, it’s been nearly a year, andCyberpunkstill hasn’t made its way to the platform. This wasn’t even the first time that the game has been rumored for Xbox Game Pass; rumors ofCyberpunk 2077coming to Game Pass were started in a separate instance as well, butCD Projekt Red came out to deny those reports.

That does not mean thatCyberpunk 2077won’t ever come to Xbox Game Pass. In fact, CD Projekt Red is preparing to release newCyberpunk 2077DLC in the form of thePhantom Libertyexpansion, and so maybe it could strategically leverage Game Pass to get more people to buy the new content. Then again, CD Projekt Red has plans to bundle the DLC in aCyberpunk 2077: Game of the Year Editionas well, so it might be hesitant to give people access to the base game without making them pay for it.

CD Projekt Red has made its games available on Xbox Game Pass before. There once was a time that the acclaimedWitcher 3: Wild Huntwas available to play through Xbox Game Pass, and so it’s not out of the question thatCyberpunk 2077could make its way there eventually. However, fans shouldn’t take the image that’s been making the rounds online as evidence that such a thing is actually going to happen.

Cyberpunk 2077is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
