The news ofDanganronpa 2: Goodbye Despairreleasing on two platforms comes at a strange crossroads where it is about to be taken off another. Over the next month, the entireDanganronpafranchise will be taken off the PlayStation Networkas developer Spike Chunsoft transitions to self-publishing.Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despairfor the PlayStation Vita will be removed from sale on September 4.
The reason the mobile ports being dubbed the “Anniversary Editions” is because 2020 marks the 10-year anniversary of theDanganronpafranchise. The last new title in the series was 2017’sDanganronpa V3: Killing Harmonywhich has been ahotly debated entry within the franchise. Mobile players will get the chance to see what the fuss is about as aDanganronpa V3: Killing Harmonymobile port is planned.
While there is seemingly little ahead for theDanganronpafranchise outside of the mobile ports, the creator of the series is making his way as an independent developer. Kazutaka Kodaka, the creator and writer of theDanganronpagames, recently releasedhis first independent projectDeath Come True, an FMV mystery game on numerous platforms.
