A new update from Kojima Productions has just gone live inDeath Stranding, one that adds a very particular option to the game’s settings with the intention of eliminating an annoyance for players. Now under settings players will see an option called “BT Encounter Warning,” and disabling it will stop a warning animation from showing on-screen every time players get close to aBT-infested area.

Kojima Productions announced the change over social media, posting a screenshot ofDeath Stranding’s settings menu to show where exactly players can find the new option. Of course, some players might argue that the feature should’ve been there from the start; for players who already know the game well, the animation in question can become overly repetitive.

The actual in-game description of the new setting reads, “Choose whether the extended warning will appear every time you encounter BTs, or only the first time,” referring to acutscene inDeath Strandingthat players automatically trigger when Sam Bridges get within range of an area where BTs live. In the cutscene, Sam’s Odradek immediately alerts him to the danger; it’s something that is definitely useful in the first few encounters–especially when creating an ominous atmosphere as players move forward–but the cutscene apparently loses its punch after being played over and over again. Players just trying to run around and make deliveries would certainly get tired of it, so those who are still playingDeath Strandingcan likely make use of such a setting.

Unfortunately, theDeath Strandingupdatecomes too little too late for players who already finished the game, seeing as its release was back in November 2019. But for those still working their way through the game, or even going for a second playthrough (not to mention those gunning for that Platinum trophy), the new setting should make exploration in the game much less of an eventual headache. Perhaps the option should’ve been made available sooner, but it’s better late than never.

Plus, the game won’t be restricted only to PS4 users forever; aPC version ofDeath Strandingis supposed to make its debut sometime this summer, according toKojima Productions, though a date hasn’t been revealed. When PC usersdogetDeath Stranding, however, no doubt they’ll also appreciate the added setting too.
