At Sony’s E3 conference, story details were revealed forDestiny 2: Forsaken, coming in the form of a story trailer that reveals what’s to come in the narrative forDestiny 2’s expansion coming this September. Watch on to see the revealed return of aDestiny 1character and what looks to be the death of a big fan-favorite character.

In a scene that will be shocking for those who are familiar with the lore ofDestiny, Cayde-6 is damaged and as the camera sweeps around it is shown that he is at the feet of Prince Uldren, who pulls the trigger of a hand cannon and kills the wise-cracking Hunter Vanguard. It looks as though Uldren is leading a revolt in the Prison of Elders and letting out the enemies that players will face in the expansion.

Duringthe expansion’s reveal streamhosted by Bungie last week, the developer described the story of the expansion to be a space western and a tale of revenge. It looks like the sparking event that sets that journey of revenge has now been revealed. The trailer sets a new tone for the Forsaken DLC, taking a step away from the flippant humor of the launch version of the game that drew some criticism from hardcore fans.

In addition to the story campaign,Destiny 2: Forsakenwill add a number of features that fans have been asking for, including reworked weapon slots, random weapon rolls, more Vault space, bulk shader deletion, in-game lore, and more. Forsaken will also add the newGambit PvPvE-hybrid mode, which pits two teams of 4 in a race to see who can defeat PvE enemies the fastest while also being able to block one another’s progress and even invade the other team for straight up PvP combat. Also coming in Forsaken is a new bow weapon, nine new supers, and Crucible maps just to name a few more features.
