It looks like more pinnacle weapons are coming toDestiny 2with the game’s next season, Season of the Drifter. While developer Bungie has stayed pretty quiet about what content is coming in Season 6 and the accompanying Annual Pass add-on Joker’s Wild, according to Bungie’s community manager Cozmo, the developer will reveal more information next week including information about the pinnacle weapons in Season 6.
For those unfamiliar, pinnacle weapons inDestiny 2are Legendary weapons with unique perks that are attached to specific quests and demand commitment to playing certain activities and achieving various levels of mastery in order to obtain. Just one step down from exotics, pinnacle weapons can be unique, powerful, and a trophy of achievement.
The first pinnacle weapon added toDestiny 2wasRedrix’s Claymoreas part of the Warmind expansion, which required players to reach the Fabled rank in the Competitive playlist in PvP. That proved quite the task, as only about 9,000 players were able to earn the weapon.
In Season 4,Destiny 2added what was basically a carbon copy of that weapon called Redrix’s Broadsword, which does not require as much skill to acquire but sets players on a much longer grind for the weapon. In addition to Redrix’s Broadsword, the Luna’s Howl andNot Forgotten hand cannonsstepped in as the Crucible pinnacle weapons. These weapons are arguably some of the best in the game, especially in the Crucible.
And most recently in Season 5, The Mountaintop became the Crucible pinnacle weapon, joined for the first time by pinnacle weapons for different activities in the form of the Breakneck auto rifle available in Gambit and Loaded Question fusion rifle in strikes.
Every season,Destiny 2has added more pinnacle weapons with more complex quests, so it will definitely be interesting to see how these pursuits are expanded upon in the next season ofDestiny 2, which isset to begin on March 5th.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
