Fans knew some sort of change was in the works for theWhisper of the Worm questinDestiny 2but without any other lead-up, that change has now gone live in the game. As of today, the release timing and specific public event requirement have been removed from the quest, allowing players to access it practically at will.
Previously, the Whisper of the Worm quest was only available inDestiny 2each week from 10 a.m. Pacific on Friday to 10 a.m. Pacific on Monday. In addition, players had to wait specifically for the Taken Blight public event in the Lost Oasis region of Io. As revealed in a new trailer, the quest can now be accessed any day of the week with any public event in the Lost Oasis region.
This change will give players more opportunities to earnone of the best weapons in the gameand an essential DPS dealer during boss fights. It’s true that there are plenty of options available when it comes to beating raid bosses and other powerful enemies, but Whisper is arguably the best. Now, players that didn’t already have the weapon will have a chance to try and get it without worrying about a schedule or luck.
The mission first appeared over the summer of 2018 before the launch of the Forsaken DLC, when it randomly activated on a Friday morning and players suddenly caught wind ofthe special quest mission. At the time, no one actually knew what the final reward of the timed mission would be, but after some hours of cracking away at it, Whisper of the Worm was confirmed to be the reward.
For those that might not be familiar, Whisper of the Worm is the new version ofDestiny 1’s Black Spindle, which was itself a less powerful exotic version of the original Legendary raid sniper Black Hammer fromDestiny 1’s Crota’s End raid.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
