For the past couple of years, rumors have been swirling about a possibleDevil May Cry 5, but there has yet to be any official announcement on the part of Capcom. However, that hasn’t stopped people from speculating about what form the next game in the series will take, includingDevil May Crycreator Hideki Kamiya, who took to Twitter to express his thoughts onDevil May Cry 5earlier today.

Kamiya feels as though it’s time forDevil May Cryto undergo a “full model change” withDevil May Cry 5, like what we are seeing with the newGod of War. Kamiya went as far as to say that instead of an “anime-style hack ‘n’ slash,” thatDevil May Cryshould be “realistic” and “cinematic.”

Kamiya is not shy about sharing his opinions on social media, no matter how controversial they may be. And considering the significant backlash thatDmC: Devil May Crysuffered for the changes it made to the franchise, Kamiya’s thoughts on the direction the series should take is likely to upset some fans. After all, Kamiya is basically calling forDevil May Cryto become something completely different.

Before fans become too upset that Capcom may take Kamiya’s advice, there’s already evidence that suggestsDevil May Cry 5is well into development and will be very similar to the first four games in the series. In fact, leaked story detailshave suggested thatDevil May Cry 5may outright ignore the events ofDmC: Devil May Cryand pick up whereDevil May Cry 4left off.

While the leaked info suggests that Kamiya’s vision forDevil May Cry 5won’t come to pass, that doesn’t mean there won’t be big changes to the series. If the leaked information is to be believed,Devil May Cry 5will feature larger environments and a bigger focus on boss battles than past games. Whether or not any of this is true remains to be seen, but ifDevil May Cry 5does exist and isHideaki Itsuno’s next gameas speculated, expect an official announcement sooner rather than later.

Devil May Cry 5is rumored to be in development for unspecified consoles.
