WithDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Mysteries of Skull Rock update in full swing, players are finally getting the opportunity to spend some time with the valley’s newest resident, Peter Pan. Unfortunately, not everyone found Peter Pan’s presence to be as delightful as others, as several players have voiced their displeasure concerning his creepy appearance.

That being said, not all players feel this way, as one fan has taken toRedditto call for a cease-fire to the ongoing “Peter Pan slander,” emphasizing thataside from being a bit pointy, his appearance is accurate to his original Disney design. This refers to his appearance in the Disney animated classic,Peter Pan, released in 1953.

This is not the first timeDisney Dreamlight Valleycharacter designs have been called into question, asmany found Merida’sDDVdesign to be off-putting, and Belle’s was so heavily criticized that Gameloft issued a formal change to it with a later update.

Peter Pan’s “Gremlin” Appearance Has Some Players On Edge

Peter Pan’s Mischievous Grin Has Him Feeling More Like The Valley’s Newest Villain

Being the sole focus of theMysteries of Skull Rock update, every player has been desperate to unlock the charismatic flying boy from one of Disney’s beloved classics. However, the more players see him around their valley, the less they seem to like it, with one player going on to say thathe looks like he’s going to kidnap them and “hold them for ransom,“to which some replied would be a bit lore-accurate for him.

While Peter Pan has always had a bit of a “gremlin"appearance, as fans have appropriately referred to it, which toes the line between Disney’s typical rounded features for heroes and sharp features for villains, hisDDVmodel takes it to the extreme. It showcases his iconic pointed ears alongside a very upturned smile and pointed chin.Nearly every feature of Peter Pan’s face in this design is sharp and harsh, making him a bit less friendly-looking than some players may have originally hoped.

Peter Pan’s Design May Be Unsettling, But It’s Accurate

Peter Pan Was Never Really The Hero That People Like To Remember Him As

While I can even agree that I was initially startled by the unsettling smile shown in thePeter Panupdate reveal, which ironically reminded me of the horror filmSmile, it’s also worth noting thatPeter Pan has somewhat always looked like this. Although the features are taken a bit to the extreme, this is also a 3D rendering of him compared to the original hand-drawn 2D style we all know, so there’s bound to be some changes.

Fans like to think of Peter Pan as this carefree boy who takes other children on a grand adventure and spends all day bravely fighting pirates, but that’s not necessarily the extent of the truth.Peter Pan, quite literally, does kidnap Wendy and her brothersfrom their room and even tries to convince them never to return, and that’s just in the Disney version. The original tale ofPeter Panis even darker and makesDDV’s Peter Pan seem like a breath of fresh air.

All in all,Peter Pan is, and has always been, a mischievous character, making hisDisney Dreamlight Valleydesign completely accurate, to all versions of him, and something that Gameloft should leave alone, not attempt to fix as they have done based on criticism in the past.
