Kotakuhas a bunch of juicy details on the previously leaked title,Star Wars: First Assault. According to the outlet’s source,ifStar Wars First Assaultis released andifit sells well, thenStar Wars: Battlefront IIIcould be next.
AfterDisney purchased LucasFilm, the future for bothFirst AssaultandStar Wars 1313became unclear. The developers are apparently still actively working on the game, not knowing if it will ever be released. What an absolutely terrible position to be in.
The game is supposed to lead up toBattlefront III, but according to Kotaku, this newBattlefront III“would use nothing from theBattlefront IIIthat has already been in production at studios like Free Radical and Slant Six.”First Assaultalso has no Jedi or vehicles, which explains its lack of the word “Battlefront” anywhere in the title.
Though these screenshots lookpainfullygeneric, I’m still hopeful that one day,Star Wars: Battlefront IIIwill become a reality, and it will live up to the quality the prior games have established.
