As anticipation forDragon Ball FighterZcontinues to build, Namco Bandai has been satiating gamers by slowly dripping information about the forthcoming fight title. At Gamescom this past week the publisher confirmed that theAndroids will be joining the fight inFighterZ, and now the company has decided to showcase the Super Saiyan Blue versions of Goku and Vegeta that’ll be appearing in the game.

Both variants of the heroes are available as unlockable characters (or potentially skins as Namco Bandai hasn’t confirmed one way or the other what form SSB Goku and Vegeta will arrive in) but those that preorderDragon Ball FighterZwill receive a code to unlock them shortly after booting the game up. As a result, it makes sense to see theDragon Ball Superforms showcased prior to their inevitable debut next year.

The characters look quite powerful, much like their standard Super Saiyan counterparts. It’s unknown where the blue brawlers rank on the officialDragon Ball FighterZratingslist that was previously released by Namco Bandai, but they likely aren’t too far off of where the other renditions of the same characters rank – albeit likely a little more powerful if they are indeed separate characters and not just alternate costumes.

At this point in time it’s really not all that hard to say how Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta will end up fitting into thestory ofDragon Ball FighterZ, especially since they are said to be unlockable characters. With heroes teaming up (in groups of three, no less) in order to combat both iconic villains from the anime and shadow-like renditions of themselves in a brand new narrative, it makes sense that the Saiyan members of Earth’s protectors will have to go blue to even have a hope of pulling through.

Dragon Ball FighterZis set to arrive for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in February 2018.
