Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas leaked yet more information regarding its upcomingDragon Ball Superthemed DLC, again in the form of images from credibleDragon Ballreporter, Dragon Ball Hype. These images show Super Saiyan God Goku facing off against Raditz, Super Saiyan God Vegeta battling Dodoria, as well as the Saiyans battling against Beerus. While this information is certainly exciting, it is high time that fans get a real reveal from CyberConnect2 or Bandai Namco about what the season pass will actually contain. For a while, many found itexciting that the season pass remained so mysterious, but at this point the excitement is wearing off.

For those unaware,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s season pass has remained nearly as enigmatic as it was at launch to this day. Now it is known that the DLC will feature elements fromDragon Ball Super, including the Super Saiyan God form and fights with both Beerus and Whis, but not much beyond that has been confirmed. The season pass released alongside the game on January 16th, over three months ago, and there are many fans who own it but still have no earthly clue exactly what it will contain. Naturally, that strikes many players as odd at best.

DBZ: Kakarot’s Super DLC Releases Spring 2020

Alongside these most recent leaks, fans received a tentative release date for the DLC of Spring 2020. Whilepredicting the release date ofDBZ: Kakarot’s Super DLCis difficult, there are some hints. Every patch for the game so far has been released on a Thursday (with the exception of the time machine update, which released last Friday), so it stands to reason that the DLC may drop on a Thursday as well. That still doesn’t narrow things down too far, as Spring 2020 could mean anywhere from late March to early June.

When it releases is besides the point, however, as the real problem is that fans still don’t have a good understanding of what they paid for. Usually, leaks such as these are rather exciting and work to build hype for an upcoming release, but in this case they have mostly added more confusion to the mix. This is in part due to expectations from players which in turn were caused by confusing or misleading wording found in the season pass itself. It is still uncertainwhatDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s DLC means for its season pass.

DBZ: Kakarot’s Season Pass

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s season pass was advertised before the game even released to contain “1 new story arc” and “2 original story episodes.” Unfortunately, since no one really knew what that meant, fans began to develop certain expectations based on the wording. This wasn’t helped by the wayDBZ: Kakarotis inconsistent in what it calls a story arc, a story episode, and a saga.Predictions of the season pass' original story episodeswere fun and exciting, as the term original implies that it could be any number of things, but ultimately those predictions proved to be wrong.

Based on the leaks, it is now thought that the two original story episodes will be the training with Whis and the battle with Beerus, both of which should aid the player in unlocking the Super Saiyan God form. What is still very uncertain is whether or not these two story episodes make up the new story arc the season pass promised or if there will be a new story arc after these trainings. It is possible that the new story arc will addResurrection FandGolden Frieza toDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but there is no evidence for this yet.

CyberConnect2 Should Reveal Details For Its Season Pass Soon

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotwas extremely successful, and there is no doubt that fans are grateful for the wonderful adaptation ofDragon Ball Z’s story they received from developer CyberConnect2, but it needs to officially reveal more information about the season pass soon.If the DLC is in fact releasing this Spring, that doesn’t give CyberConnect2 much time to make an official reveal and clear up some of the confusion which is running rampant among the community, so more information is hopefully imminent.

There is something to be said for the excitement of not knowing what to expect, but for players to still be so uncertain about what they purchased two months ago is a problem. CyberConnect2 doesn’t need to spill everything and spoil its entire DLC, but more information to clear up some confusion based around the poorly worded season pass and leaks translated from Japanese would be much appreciated by most players. There are a lot of things about the upcoming DLC that don’t seem to make sense. For example, will Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta be separate playable charactersor new forms?

DBZ: Kakarot’s DLC and the Time Machine

Other uncertainties arise when wonderinghowDBZ: Kakarot’s DLC will interact with the time machine. Among the screenshots shown in the most recent leaks were images of Super Saiyan God Vegeta and Goku fighting Dodoria and Raditz respectively. Although it is possible to unlock Super Saiyan God before beating the story, can it be done this early? If not, these battles must be happening due to the time machine, but even that would be strange since the time machine locks transformations that the character wouldn’t have at a given point in time.

This is just one example of themany things that are unclear about the upcoming DLCand why CyberConnect2 needs to act quickly to clear up the many misconceptions surrounding it. It is still possible to maintain mystery and excitement around the release while being concise and clear about what it will include, and this is especially important considering a large number of players have already purchased the content. Hopefully players can place their trust in CyberConnect2 that the DLC will turn out to be as enjoyable as the base game was, but it still would be nice to learn more in the coming days.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
