Going head to head recently in a bitter legal war,Epic Games' current battle with both Apple and Googlehas quickly led to an unprecedentedly public spat between some of the biggest names in the tech and gaming industry. In turn,Fortnitehas been forcibly removed from both companies' storefronts, leaving a lot of the game’s users confused as to what the status and future of the title will be on mobile devices.
It seems Epic Games wants to assure players that it will still be offering the mobile version ofFortnitefor fans on Android platforms, sending an email to those who’ve downloaded the game through Google Play that better explains what happens next. According to the publisher,Fortnitewill still be playable through the Epic Games Store Android app, which can be accessed by going to Fortnite.com/Android.

Going to the site will offer players a QR code which, once scanned, will take them to a link to download either the Epic Games Store app or the game itself courtesy of the Samsung Galaxy storefront. Interestingly, Epic also details what players who still ownFortniteon the Google Play Store can expect to discover when they launch the game, with the company claiming that they can continue to play the previous update. However, they won’t be able to playFortniteChapter 2: Season 4and it seems they won’t be able to amass any further progression either.
It seems they’ll also be unable to buy any new cosmetics, complete challenges, or send gifts, while duos, limited-time events, and battle lab are all also going to be cut for Google Play users. All things considered, it seems wise for current players to make the jump to theEpic Games Storeapp or Samsung Galaxy’s storefront if they want access to the fullFortniteexperience.
Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Android, with PS5 and Xbox Series X support planned for later this year.
