Square Enix’s E3 2019 press conference started strongly with a block ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, showcasing the game’s real-time combat, confirming a full game’s worth of content just in Midgar, and finally revealing a new cinematic trailer reintroducing Tifa Lockhart. Previously, Tifa had been teased in theFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrailer that debuted during PlayStation’s May State of Play event, her name listed as a member of the party. Now she’s fully confirmed and already kicking butt inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.

That’s not to say that the newFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrailerwas entirely focused on Tifa, however. She was definitely well-represented, but the trailer covered a whole lot of ground. The start of the trailer helped reintroduce Cloud, Barrett, and Avalanche as well as their attack on Midgard. The end of the trailer hinted at the story beyond, including Cloud interacting with Aerith and none other than Sephiroth himself.

While the new trailer is mostly cinematic, there are some brief moments of combat gameplay. As is apparent from the trailer, the quality between the two is hard to distinguish.Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis turning into a very exciting project, even beyond the legacy of the original game.

During theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeportion of the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference, it was confirmed that this initial release would be just a portion of the fullFinal Fantasy 7JRPG. However, it was promised that this Midgar chapter had grown large enough to stand on its own, filling a full two Blu-ray discs. As shown in the new cinematic trailer, that means that certain sequences will be expanded dramatically if only for dramatic effect. Full voicework is a much different experience than scrolling text.
