In recent weeks, Epic Games' wildly popular battle royale titleFortnitehas received two major nerfs. First, itnerfed the BRUTE mech, which was mostly well-received by the community. There were some who would prefer to see it removed entirely, but this was a decent compromise. However, the second thing to be nerfed was turbo building, which has sent the competitive community into a frenzy.
Essentially, the turbo building nerf came in the form of a decrease in time from .o5 seconds to .15 seconds, meaning that it takes longer for players to throw up another structure. Turbo Building allowsFortniteplayers to hold buttons to spin and crank 90s without having to manually select and build a structure, with Epic Games announcing a few reasons for this change.

It points at how players with low ping automatically have an edge thanks to Turbo Building and how one player shouldn’t be able to defend against a whole squad by holding down a button. Another reason is that building inFortniteshould be intentional and not spammy, according to Epic Games, but it’s clear that many of its player base do not agree.
The trend #ReverseTurboBuilding quickly took over social media, withFortnitefans voicing their disapproval of the nerf. Not only does this change the way the game plays significantly and ruin turbo building for many, but asMixer’s Ninjapointed out, it practically nullifies the aforementioned BRUTE nerf. It once again puts them at a serious advantage over those who prefer or need to build and can onlyturbobuildslowly.
It remains to be seen ifFortnitedeveloper Epic Games responds to or gives in to the desires of its community, but given that it was reluctant to ever nerf the BRUTE mechs and did, it seems likely to at least address this trend directly. In the meantime, there is a newFortnitexBorderlandscrossoverthan many players are bound to enjoy.
