[Update:Fortniteservers are finally back to normal and players should be able to log in and play without any issue.]

Following many new additions,a new patch, and fixes to the game within the past 24 hours, theFortniteservers have suddenly gone down and players are currently unable to access the game at all. In a tweet,Fortnitedeveloper Epic Games has let fans know that the team is currently doing emergency maintenance to the game, and that there is unfortunately no estimated time as to when the servers will be online again.

The problems with theFortniteservers seem to have started yesterday, April 11th, when players were starting to experience issues with accounts and some players were unable to login to the game. An hour later, Epic Games identified the login problem as a database failure, not only inFortnite, but for all Epic Games endpoints, and this problem was soon fixed. After the fix, though, players were having issues with matchmaking, and Epic Games once again had to address this new issue with matchmaking.

A few hours later, the initial fix was apparently unable to handle the returning traffic, and players started experiencing login issues again. An hour after this returning problem, Epic Games finally decided to take the servers down completely for emergency maintenance in order to “deploy major upgrades to [its] database systems.” Epic Games has announced at 6am UTC time that they are still working on the database upgrade and that servers will remain down until further notice.

Fortniteplayers seem very unhappyabout the downtime, and it is certainly not making a good impression, especially afterFortnitealso had to very recentlydisable Guided Missilesin order to fix another issue. Epic Games has assured players that it is doing everything in its capacity to get the game up and running as soon as possible though.Fortniteplayers can keep up to date with the progress that Epic Games is making on the database upgrade on the Epic Games status page.

Fortniteis available now in early access on iOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
