Futuramawill be back sooner than fans might have anticipated. According to voice actress Lauren Tom, the series will probably end up releasing new episodes this summer.
Futuramahas ended a few times. BeforeFuturamareturned for its Hulu revival, it aired on Fox for four seasons, from 1999 to 2003. Four movies, which comprised a fifth season, were ordered by Comedy Central - these films premiered between 2008 and 2009. Thanks to the success of these films, the series was brought back for 52 more episodes at Comedy Central; this run of the series aired from 2010 to 2013.

Tom posted the news to herTwitteraccount. In response to a fan who had hoped theFuturamareboot wasn’t far off, Tom stated, “The new episodes should be released sometime this summer! Can’t wait for you to see them!”
There hasn’t been much news about the reboot sinceHulu revealed episode titles fromFuturama’s new season. That was back in August of last year, while news of the series' return had only come out in February. The series is actually hitting Hulu sooner than might have been believed.
Last year, fans breathed a sigh of relief when it was revealed thatJohn DiMaggio would officially be returning toFuturamaas Bender, the lovable robot. DiMaggio’s return was initially uncertain - the voice actor was dissatisfied with the financial aspects of his return. The cast had almost been replaced for the Comedy Central era due to budgetary restrictions, as well. Luckily, neither of those situations ended up happening, and DiMaggio has signed on for this reboot after negotiating better terms.
Untilit officially returns, fans wonderwhetherFuturama’s humor is relevantin today’s times. The conceit of the show is that the year 3000 is essentially the same as the present;Futuramahas always satirized the era in which it aired. This time around, it looks like the reboot is going to tackle ‘cancel culture’ while also addressing vaccinations and the COVID pandemic.Futuramahasn’t always hit its mark, but its brand of earnestness has carried it pretty far. Hopefully the reboot carries a similar sentiment.
