Ghosts’ large ensemble cast means not every character gets equal screen time, including its most interesting season 4 guest character. Alongside Sam, Jay, and the eightmain spirits inGhosts, there’s a fun rotating lineup of supporting characters. The show finds creative ways to introduce new spirits - like the poltergeist in season 3, or Jessica the ghost attached to the car.

Most spirits are confined to the property lines where they died, with exceptions.Pete discovers his power to roam inGhostsseason 3, making him one of the rare spirits who can leave Woodstone Manor. He uses his ability to find another roaming ghost, Joan, as part of Pete’s promise to find a love match for Sass.

Isaac watching Chris dance Ghosts season 3

Isaac, one of the main characters ofGhostsseason 4, was on a journey of growth. I didn’t expect to see the man of his dreams again, but Chris the Australian stripper returned for two twisty episodes in season 4. Although Chris left quickly, I feel likeGhostswas almost teeing up Chris’s eventual return in season 5.

Chris The Australian Stripper Was The Soapiest Surprise Of Ghosts Season 4

Isaac’s Happily Ever After Was Taken Away By The Last Person I’d Expect - The Man He Left At The Altar

Chris was the stripper Sam hired for Isaac’s bachelor party in season 3. Between Chris’s muscles and his interest in dinosaurs, Isaac felt such an explosive attraction to Chris that it reframed his compatibility with Nigel as simply not enough. I was pleasantly surprised when Sam hired Chris again for a bachelorette party inGhostsseason 4, episode 15.

When Chris died during a parachute malfunction over the property, it seemed likeGhostswas setting up Isaac’s happy ending. However, Ghosts zagged and instead had Chris organically hit it off with Nigel instead. The surprises kept coming when Chris discovered he could leave the property while airborne, unceremoniously ending his romance with Nigel without even saying goodbye.

Nigel and Chris in Ghosts season 4 episode 16

The show might have tipped the scales in focusing too much on spirit romance - especiallyGhostseason 4’s tired running joke about Sass’s virginity- as well as the Pete-Donna-Alberta love triangle at the end of the season. Having such an unexpected and short-lived romance between Nigel and Chris was a perfect counterbalance.

Chris Helped Isaac Grow As A Character - Twice

Isaac’s Journey From Selfish To Selfless Is Encapsulated By His Love Triangle In Ghosts Season 4

Even before his death, Chris helped Isaac admit to himself what he wanted out of a relationship - something with more passion and life, even after death. This is a lot of growth from a character who grew up with American Revolution-era morality. The fantasy of Chris stirred something undeniable in Isaac, even if he thought it was unattainable.

Ghostsseason 4, episode 16 shows how much Isaac has maturedas a character. The Isaac of earlier seasons would have tried to sabotage Nigel’s chances with Chris’s ghost, but Isaac accepts that his ex is with his dream man, even if it hurts Isaac.

Now, Isaac puts other people’s feelings first. He even softens the blow of Chris’s unceremonious departure with a white lie he tells Nigel - that Chris was sucked off, completed by his short time with Nigel. Isaac is doing this out of compassion - the truth that Chris left would devastate Nigel.

However, Nigel will be confused and embarrassed if he realizes Chris was not actually sucked off. We don’t fully understand whether the rules of roamers will apply to Chris if his travel is aeronautical, but if he has to come back to Woodstone Manor or risk disappearing like Pete, this will be a huge problem for Isaac.

The Rules Of Roamers Will Force Chris To Return To Woodstone Manor (To Isaac’s Chagrin)

If Joan’s Rules Apply To Chris, Isaac Is In Huge Trouble With Nigel

InGhostsseason 4, episode 17, Pete finally makes good on his promise to help Sass find love and introduces him to Joan, a Roaming ghost from the golden age of Hollywood. Joan clarifies some rules for Roaming ghosts, namely that they all have to return to their death property periodically or risk disappearing into nonexistence.

Over time, they can grow the amount of time they can spend Roaming. Right now, Pete is limited to a few days, but Joan can spend nearly a year away. It’s a muscle the spirits can flex and improve over the decades.

Chris’s death is implied to be a malfunction with the parachute, but given that it works as a ghost, it’s possible Chris died of a heart attack while parachuting in. His spirit has scratches, but the show hasn’t confirmed a cause of death and keeps the visual reminders of death more lighthearted.

Roaming is already a rare skill, so Roaming while flying might be unprecedented. If Chris died in the air from a heart attack, then he probably isn’t bound to any property line. However, the exact rules that govern the ghost boundary are somewhat unexplained.

Fans have asked why the property boundary applies to Thor and Sass, who died centuries before Woodstone Manor’s property was owned in a modern sense, just the same as the more recent ghosts. Magic is always a little unfathomable, so regardless of the nature of Chris’s death, he might have to return to Woodstone Manor eventually.

If he does, Isaac will have a lot of explaining to do, since at the very least Nigel if not everyone at Woodstone Manor is under the impression that Chris was sucked off. It would be ironic if Isaac’s selfless move came back to haunt him inGhostsseason 5.
