The big-budget adaptation of the Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson novels saw a decline in viewership for its most recent third installment. Despite the fact that the drama series is reportedly well-liked by executives, with a strong global audience, that wasn’t enough topave the way forThe Wheel of Timeseason 4.
It speaks to the fact that Prime Video, outside of action shows likeReacherand superpowered stories likeThe BoysandInvincible, is struggling with some of the quieter genres that make up a more balanced television portfolio. That is exemplified in the streamer’s latest cancellation, which comes as something of a surprise.

Despite the cancellation, however, Prime Video is still expected to support the dramedy’s Emmy campaign.
