When Google first launched its Stadia service last year, it lacked many of its promised features. Since then, Google has updated Google Stadia a number of times, adding things likeStadia achievements, support for other platforms, and more. However, Google Stadia still lacks messaging capabilities, though that appears to be changing at some point in the near future if a recent datamine is any indication.

Dataminers have dug through the latest Stadia update files and have found evidence thatGoogle Stadiawill be getting messaging capabilities sooner rather than later. Since video game consoles have had messaging systems for nearly two decades now, it makes sense for Stadia to have one as well. This will go a long way in improving Stadia’s social features, which are key when it comes to building an online community.

Of course, Stadia’s social features don’t mean much without games that will keep players engaged. Unfortunately, this is something that Stadia continues to struggle with. No high-profile Stadia exclusives are available yet, with the recent Stadia Connect presentation failing to generate much excitement forGoogle’s game-streaming platform.

While Google is still struggling to deliver compelling content, the effort is being made. TheGet Packedco-op game recently launched as a Stadia timed-exclusive, and while it hasn’t gotten a ton of attention, it does show that Google is committed to growing Stadia’s library of games. Future AAA titles will be launching on Stadia the same day that they’re out for traditional consoles as well, which should also go a long way in improving Stadia’s reputation with the gaming public.
