Halo Infinitemay have had a massive launch late last year, but it’s struggling to keep its players on Steam.
Steam’s public statistics page shows thatHalo Infinitehas a daily high of just 30,000 players, and routinely has closer to 15,000 playing. Compared to the top games on Steam that routinely have 250,000 to a million daily players, this means thatHalo Infiiniteis in the bottom 20% of the Top 100 games on the platform.

Of course, this only tells a part of the story, as this is players on Steam.Halo Infiniteis included as part of the PC Game Pass, which doesn’t count towards Steam statistics, and therefore there’s probably many more players playing on there. And of course even more are playing on Xbox Series X/S, where it’s in the top five most played games on Game Pass. 343 Industries has announced thatHalo Infinitehad the biggest launch in the history of the franchise, and as of January 25th over 20 million people have played the game so far.
The game has alsostruggled to find much of an audience on Twitch, recently coming in at only the 45th most-watched game on the platform. That means it’s being outperformed by years-older titles such asRed Dead Redemption 2. It’s surprising to see for a game that’s otherwise doing so well.
But this is just the start forHalo Infinite, which is still missing content that gamers are expecting. It has many new game modes on the way, including therecently leaked Tactical Ops game modes. These will offer versions of Tactical Slayer where players can only use one specific weapon, such as Sidekicks or Manglers. Whether this will be a random playlist or not is still up in the air, but the developer will undoubtedly reveal its plans soon.
Many fans are also eagerly anticipating replaying the main story campaign inco-op mode when it is released later this year. This will be coming as part of an update that also includes Forge mode, which allows players to create custom maps and game modes, and will undoubtedly have players more involved in multiplayer matches.
Halo Infiniteis now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
