NewHollow Knight: Silksonggameplay has finally been shown, and the game is coming this year.Silksonghas been in development since 2019, and after numerous delays and rumors, it has become the most wishlisted game on Steam. Revealed at the beginning of theGamescom2025 Opening Night Live show, host Geoff Keighley stated that he could confirm thatSilksongis"100 percent launching this year.“Additionally, new gameplay was shown in the background.

Silksong’srelease date has been the subject of a lot of discourse, as the game has been slated for multiple release windows in the past and has seen a longer-than-usual development cycle. For the original game, it was announced and then releasedjust two weeks later, leading some fans to speculate that it could be the case again forSilksong.
While we still don’t have a specific date, it has been speculated that the game mightrelease before October 16. Developer Team Cherry’s community manager, Matthew ‘Leth’ Griffin, confirmed a release before Holiday 2025 previously.

Short But Sweet
The gameplay shown was brief, but it featured new protagonist, Hornet, jumping and fighting enemies, highlighting thegame series' classic Metroidvania feel. The game will also beplayable at Gamescomfor attendees, so demo impressions will likely come later this week.
The clip shown during the event is the latest look at the game since the game’s last trailer in 2022. Keighley ended the segment by saying,“there you go, Silksong is real.“While very brief, confirmation thatHollow Knight: Silksongis still coming this year and new gameplay is likely to excite fans even more for the eventual 2025 release.
