Yesterday, developer BioWare released a new gameplay video forMass Effect: Andromedahighlighting the explorationgamers will enjoy in the game. At the time, the developer also revealed that players will have a chance to discover over 100 planets in the game, though only a handful will be available for exploration.
While 100 planets inMass Effect: Andromedadoesn’t sounds over-the-top when compared to thevastness of space present inNo Man’s Sky, it’s still a healthy number of planets for players to find. The few planets players can land on and explore will be filled with unique and interesting story, characters, and challenges.
The focus on quality rather than quantity will undoubtedly be a welcomed focus for gamers as they make their way throughMass Effect: Andromeda. While many developers are focusing their efforts on creating expansive worlds filled with little to do, others like BioWare are looking to keep each experience unique and entertaining.
Concerning the planets that players can’t explore, recent revelations from BioWare seem to hint at a return of theplanet scanning capabilitiesofMass Effect 2. In that title, players could search out planets and scan them for resources. With over 100 planets inMass Effect: Andromedaand only a handful available for exploring, this is likely the way players will interact with the remaining planets.
As the release date forMass Effect: Andromedanears, BioWare will likely continue the marketing push for the space-exploration title. Despite all that’s already been shared, there’s still plenty left to learn about the game and the experience that’s waiting for players. Now thatMass Effect: Andromedahas gone gold, it’s just a matter of waiting before gamers will be exploring and enjoying the wonderful worlds available in the game.
Mass Effect: Andromedais set to release July 13, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
