As the number of subscription services needed to participate in gaming and other forms of entertainment continues to grow, I often find myself evaluating which are worth keeping and which I can cut loose. MyNintendo SwitchOnline (NSO) subscription is one that I frequently question keeping. Although it’s relatively inexpensive compared to other services, I find that I mainly use it to play the same few retroZeldagames. However, I recently learned about a part of the NSO subscription I wasn’t taking full advantage of, and it has changed my perspective somewhat.

Now I will admit I’ve warmed a bit to my NSO subscription since getting a Switch 2. Theaddition of GameCube gameshelps, and it can admittedly be pretty fun to see the inventive ways other players have devised to beat me atMario Kart World. However, one of my main reasons for keeping my subscription isa newer feature of NSO that I’d been sleeping on until recently.

You Don’t Have The Nintendo Music App, But You Should

Nintendo Music Is Included In An NSO Subscription

If you are an NSO member, you are able to use the Nintendo Music app on any of your smart devices. The app includes a pretty decent-sized library of music from Nintendo games and music from consoles likethe ever-popular Wii Shop music. Nintendo Music is also continuing to add songs, so if music from your favorite game isn’t there yet, it may still pop up in a future update.

I’m sure I’m not alone in missing the launch of Nintendo Music last October. Between the release of big games likeGOTY contenderMetaphor: ReFantazioandDragon Age: The Veilguard, the release of Nintendo Music largely flew under the radar. However, if you haven’t downloaded it yet, it’s worth checking out. Especially because it includes some great Nintendo soundtracks.

Nintendo Music Has Some Excellent Soundtracks

Nintendo Music Has Soundtracks From Zelda, Mario, And More Nintendo Classics

TheLegend of Zeldaseries features some of Nintendo’s best soundtracks, andmany of them are available on Nintendo Music. There are soundtracks fromWind Waker,Skyward Sword, andBreath of the Wild, as well as older games likeA Link to the PastandOcarina of Time. You can also relax with theAnimal Crossing New Horizonssoundtrack, or keep yourself motivated with upbeat tunes fromSuper Mario Odyssey. Aside from specific soundtracks, Nintendo Music also has curated playlists for various activities ranging from running to sleeping.

One feature I really appreciate about Nintendo Music is the screenshots that accompany each track. This way, if you don’t recognize a track by name, you’re able to find it by looking for the part of the game you’re familiar with. It’s nice to know that my NSO subscription extends beyond just playing games on mySwitch, and it’s handy having access to a curated library of high-quality video game music. If you haven’t already, I recommend checking it out.
