If You Love Medical Dramas, House Is Required Viewing

Houseis a medical drama that should be required for anyone interested in the genre. It’s a series that will be incredibly familiar to fans of other medical shows, but it pares down all the extraneous parts of those series and focuses mostly on one character and the many medical cases he solves.

Housestars Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, a cantankerous, maverick doctor who is also a diagnostic genius. The cynical misanthrope works with a rotation of doctors who generally can’t personally stand him, but also can’t help but admit he’s the most successful and caring medical professional they’ve ever met.

Why House Is A Perfect Medical Drama

In some ways,Houseis a quintessential medical drama. It has all the hallmarks. It mainly follows one doctor who is incredibly talented but has a personal life and attitude that make him hard to deal with. Every episode involves a new case, often with a guest star brought in to play the sick or injured person.

However,Housealso sets itself apart in some key ways, primarily with the title character. House is a wildly unpleasant man. Not in the “work is his life” way, he’s really just a jerk, and often for no reason. That’s an odd protagonist to root for, and yet you do, thanks to Laurie’s roguish performance and House’s undeniable skill.
