The Quantic Dream Twitter account confirms that the PlayStation 2 gameIndigo Prophecywill be coming to PlayStation 4 with 1080p HD visuals next month.
While many gamers may know Quantic Dream best for the studio’sHeavy Raingame on PS4and PS3, the studio has been making ambitious, story-focused adventure games since 1999. Its second game, the popularIndigo Prophecy, really helped to put Quantic Dream on the map and pave the way for games likeHeavy Rain, and now it is coming to PlayStation 4.
The PlayStation 4 version ofIndigo Prophecywill be a part of thePS2 on PS4 lineup of games. For the uninitiated, the PS2 games made available on PS4 sport an upgrade to 1080p graphics, in addition to trophy support. Whether or not this is enough to convince those that already own the game to buy it again on PlayStation 4 come its release on July 18th remains to be seen, but if they do decide to do so, it is available for a relatively cheap price, coming in at just $14.99.
With theDetroit: Become Humantrailerthat aired during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference earning a good deal of praise, it makes sense forIndigo Prophecyto come to PS4 now. This will allow Sony to cash in on the increased popularity Quantic Dream seems to be enjoying at the moment, which could in turn build up hype forDetroit: Become Human.
Furthermore, the addition ofIndigo Prophecyto the PlayStation 4 library means that almost every game made by Quantic Dream will soon be available on Sony’s new console. The only title missing is Quantic Dream’s freshman effort, the sci-fi adventure game calledOmikron: The Nomad Soul, though that game is at least still referenced endlessly in Quantic Dream projects to this day,Indigo Prophecyincluded.
While we may never seeOmikroncome to PS4, fans of Quantic Dream will likely appreciate thatIndigo Prophecyis making its way to the platform. Dedicated fans can replayIndigo Prophecy,Heavy Rain, andBeyond: Two Soulsto help tide them over until the release ofDetroit: Become Human, which will probably be available in 2017 or 2018 at the earliest.
Indigo Prophecyis available for Android, iOS, PC, PS2, Xbox, and will be available on PlayStation 4 beginning July 18th.
