The end is in sight forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, at least for one of its most popular multiplayer modes.Black Ops 6is widely regarded as one of the strongest modern entries in the long-running series, despite some fans taking issue with itsstrange cartoon crossoversand microtransactions. With that, approaching the end of summer means gearing up for another yearlyCoDrelease in the fall, and an update this week will be the beginning of the end forBlack Ops 6.

Revealed in a trailer on theCall of Dutyofficial YouTube channel,season 5 will add the final Zombies map and storyline to the game, called Reckoning. Season 5 is scheduled for release on August 7.

Reckoning will conclude theZombies game modeadditions to the game. The map consists ofthree giant towersthat have been teased in the background of the Liberty Falls map previously. Parachutes are being introduced as a new mechanic to help players quickly traverse the towers, as well as zero gravity areas, which will allow players and zombies alike to float in midair.

Players will also have to face a new robotic multiphase threat called the Uber Klaus. New to Reckoning will be trap upgrades, which will allow players to customize how the laser cannon operates. A newZombies Wonder Weaponwill also be introduced, called the Gorgofex, which begins as a living organism and will slowly develop to resemble a pistol. Treyarch concluded by saying that Reckoning will"set the stage for things to come."

These first-person shooter titans will battle it out for players' attentions this week, so a lot of eyes will be on the entire season 5 offering ofBlack Ops 6and on the reactions to theBattlefield 6beta.
