By confirming that Juliette returns to her home silo in its ending moments,Siloseason 2 unknowingly solved its biggest storytelling issue before season 3’s release. As many viewers will recall,Juliette’s arc inSiloseason 2primarily revolves around her struggles to return to Silo 18 after she finds herself in a neighboring silo. Almost throughout the season, she keeps coming up with new ideas and plans to find her way back to her home silo. Although many of her plans fail and even leave her severely injured or sick, she eventually manages to make her way back to Silo 18.

Siloseason 2 ends with a cliffhanger that leaves an air of mystery surrounding Juliette’s fate. However, since she is the main character of theApple TV+ sci-fi show, she will undoubtedly return inSiloseason 3. Speaking ofSiloseason 3, it could have easily walked down the same narrative path as season 2 and repeated its biggest mistake. Fortunately,Siloseason 2’s endingensures that season 3 will avoid treading the same path as its predecessor and avoid having the same storytelling issues that held it back from reaching its true potential.

Unlike Season 2, Silo Season 3 Will Not Have To Simultaneously Focus On Two Silos

Silo Season 3 Will Return To Focusing On Silo 18

Siloseason 2 struggled to balance the pace of Juliette’s story with the one unfolding inside Silo 18. While Juliette’s narrative barely made progress and moved at a snail’s pace, a lot of political developments unfolded inside Silo 18. Influential figures like Judge Meadows passed away and the ones from the lower levels even brewed a massive rebellion. Inside Silo 18, Lukas also somehow managed to win Bernard’s trust and earned the opportunity to become his shadow. In the meantime, almost throughout the season, Juliette only struggled to find her way back to Silo 18.

Juliette’s side of the story felt a little too redundant and overly stretched in season 2. This made season 2 seem off and a little hard to follow. Fortunately, since Juliette returns to Silo 18 inSiloseason 2’s ending moments, the Apple TV+ show’s season 3 will not have to divide its runtime between two silos. It might still give a glimpse of Solo and the other Silo 17 survivors. However, since the show’s main story beats revolve around Silo 18’s citizens and Juliette, season 3’s present timeline will seemingly focus only on one setting.

Unlike the source material, the show will seemingly go back and forth between the past and the present to continue Juliette and Silo 18’s story while walking through the events that led to the silos' creation.

It must be noted, though, thatSiloseason 3 will likely feature two timelines. AsSiloseason 2’s closing flashback suggests, the show will finally start revealing the truth about the origins of the titular structures and the reason behind their construction by adapting Hugh Howey’s secondSilonovel,Shift. Unlike the source material, the show will seemingly go back and forth between the past and the present to continue Juliette and Silo 18’s story while walking through the events that led to the silos' creation. This, again, could lead to some narrative challenges.

Silo Season 3 Cannot Afford To Unfold At A Slow Pace

Silo’s Next Two Seasons Have A Lot Of Ground To Cover

AlthoughSilobrings many changes to its source material, its second installment’s ending roughly aligns with the first book’s conclusion. Since Apple TV+ has confirmed thatSilowill end its run with four seasons, the next two seasons of the series have to adapt the remaining two books from the Hugh Howey trilogy. With so much ground from the source material left to cover,Siloseasons 3 and 4 cannot afford to emulate season 2’s slow pace. In fact,it seems likely thatSiloseason 3 will gloss over some of the story elements from Hugh Howey’sShift.

Regardless of howSilo’s remaining seasons will approach the original novels, it is hard not to hope that the series will learn from its mistakes. AsSiloseason 2’s positive reviews suggest, it was, by no means, an underwhelming installment. However, its inconsistent pacing held it back from being as good as the opening season. IfSiloseason 3 learns from its predecessor’s mistakes, it could potentially become the series' strongest installment and perfectly set the stage for the final season.
